Valve’s Steam Autumn Sale 2025 ran from September 29 through October 6, ending at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. Valve called the timing “earlier than usual” and said the change was intentional, but did not explain why it chose those dates. These are historical dates, not an upcoming 2026 sale schedule.
Steam Autumn Sale 2025 dates
The sale began September 29, 2025, and ended October 6 at 10 a.m. Pacific Time, according to Valve’s September 29 Steam News post. That gives the event a seven-day span from its opening date to its closing time.

Valve had announced on February 13, 2025, that it was publishing a schedule of Steam events for the second half of the year. The Steamworks Development announcement confirms that announcement, but its linked event-detail page is not accessible here. The dates directly established by Valve’s sale launch post are the Autumn Sale dates above.
Why was the Steam Autumn Sale earlier in 2025?
Valve itself described the schedule as unusually early: “Yes, we are crazy, and yes we are earlier than usual, but also that’s intentional”. The line appeared in the official sale launch post. Valve did not provide a detailed business or scheduling rationale there, so explanations such as creating more distance from another sale should be treated as speculation unless supported by a separate official statement.

What Steam seasonal sales mean
Steamworks documentation says Valve runs four Steam-wide seasonal sales each year. These events feature games across the store and involve changes to the Steam front page and its rotating featured options. The documentation also explains that released games can participate, and that discounts of 20% or more automatically trigger wishlist email notifications. Placement in Steam specials may depend on factors including tags, popularity, and recommendation; inclusion or visibility is not a guarantee for every game.
The same documentation currently lists 2026 events, including an Autumn Sale scheduled for October 1–8, 2026. Those are dates for a different calendar year and do not change the historical 2025 schedule. Check the Steamworks Seasonal Sales documentation for current event information.
