If Vampire Survivors keeps crashing on PS4, first install the latest game update and back up your save. Poncle announced a PS4 hotfix on May 19, 2025, for specific crash cases, but that announcement does not show that every crash is fixed. If the problem continues, use PlayStation’s general troubleshooting steps and report the details of any repeatable crash.
What Poncle fixed—and what that does not establish
On May 1, 2025, Poncle said it was working on a PS4 fix for crashes related to low memory. The developer attributed that issue to a memory leak in the engine version the game used and the end of support for older safe versions, which required an engine upgrade. On May 19, 2025, Poncle announced “PlayStation 4 Hotfix – 1.13.111.” The announcement listed fixes for crashes involving new DLC and picking up the Rosary at the end of the Holy Forbidden stage, along with other PS4 bugs. Those are specific fixes named in that dated announcement—not proof that the hotfix prevents every possible crash or that every regional PS4 build has the same version number. What to try if the game still crashes
1. Update the game and protect your save
- On the PS4 home screen, highlight Vampire Survivors, press the Options button, and select Check for Update. Install any update offered. The available version may vary by region; the sources do not establish one current version number for every PS4 player.
- Back up your PS4 data before further troubleshooting, particularly if crashes recur or the save seems damaged. During the 2025 issue, Poncle specifically suggested backing up to a USB drive. A backup protects your data; it does not repair a game bug. Poncle asked players with corrupted PS4 save data to contact [email protected]. See Poncle’s backup and save-data guidance.
2. Follow PlayStation’s general PS4 troubleshooting sequence
PlayStation recommends general console steps for games that crash. They are not a confirmed fix for Poncle’s specific low-memory issue, so stop if a step could put unsaved or backed-up data at risk.

- Restart the PS4.
- Restore licenses.
- Delete Vampire Survivors and download it again.
- Check that the PS4 system software is up to date.
- If the problem remains, consider rebuilding the database from Safe Mode.

What information to include in a crash report
For a repeatable crash, record the game version and PS4 system software version, any error code, what stage and action preceded the crash, and approximately when it happened. Note whether DLC or local co-op was involved. PlayStation asks users who still have trouble to provide the error code, a detailed description and reproduction steps, and a screenshot or video if possible. Would switching to PS5 help?
Poncle’s FAQ confirms that PS4 and PS5 versions exist and that PlayStation purchases are cross-buy. That may offer access to the other edition if you have a PS5, but it is not a guaranteed fix for a PS4 installation problem. The FAQ said cross-save was still in progress when it was written, so do not assume your save transfers between editions. Check Poncle’s FAQ.
Later player reports describe crashes after newer updates, but individual reports do not establish how common the issue is, its cause, or the status of every current PS4 build. Check the update available for your copy and report persistent, reproducible crashes with the details above.
