Weapon level caps differ, and some recipes add conditions such as a max-level passive or a second required item. Unions combine weapons instead of pairing one weapon with a passive. The chart below covers 17 base-game recipes; DLC rules and recipe coverage are listed separately because the available reference does not provide a full item-by-item DLC chart.
How weapon evolutions work
A standard evolution requires a max-level base weapon and its matching passive item, followed by opening an eligible treasure chest. Do not assume every weapon caps at level 8: the cap varies by weapon. Many familiar recipes accept their passive at any level, but some require a maxed passive or have another condition. The reference does not specify which level rule applies to each recipe in the chart below, so check the recipe in your current game version before relying on a passive that is not maxed.
Unions are different: they combine weapons rather than one weapon and a passive. A chain is a further transformation that uses an already evolved weapon as an input. Treat each as its own recipe, not as an ordinary one-weapon evolution.
Base-game weapon evolution chart
These 17 weapon-and-passive pairs are listed in the base-game reference. The passive column gives the required item or items; exact weapon level caps and per-recipe passive-level requirements are not stated in that reference. Unless a recipe has an additional condition, the ordinary evolution trigger is an eligible chest after the weapon reaches its own maximum level.

| Axe | Candelabrador | Death Spiral |
| Cross | Clover | Heaven Sword |
| King Bible | Spellbinder | Unholy Vespers |

| Shadow Pinion | Wings | Valkyrie Turner |
| Clock Lancet | Silver Ring and Gold Ring | Infinite Corridor |
| Laurel | Metaglio Left and Metaglio Right | Crimson Shroud |
Clock Lancet and Laurel illustrate why a recipe check matters: each needs two passive items, not one. The table records required items, but does not establish whether a particular item must be maxed.
DLC recipe coverage and special conditions
The DLC reference groups recipes by expansion and reports these counts. They describe that reference’s coverage, not independently verified totals for every current game version. It does not provide the complete inputs and results for each DLC recipe here, so the counts are a coverage guide rather than a substitute for an item-by-item recipe chart.

How to check a recipe in a run
- Identify the weapon’s cap. Level the base weapon to its maximum; do not apply a universal level number to the whole roster.
- Match every listed input. Hold the required passive or catalyst. For paired recipes, acquire both items. Check whether the recipe requires an item to be maxed.
- Meet any recipe-specific condition. DLC recipes may call for a special catalyst, Weapon Power-Up, Glimmer, or another named condition; unions and chains have their own weapon inputs.
- Open an eligible chest for an ordinary evolution. Having the weapon and passive alone does not trigger the standard transformation.
- Check the current version when a recipe is missing. An updated planner reviewed for this guide uses build 25016043 data and was updated 2 September 2026. Recipe references can change as the game receives updates.
