What does Verdigris Discus do?
Verdigris Discus is a talisman in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. Its in-game description says it “Raises defense with higher equipment load.” The effect is tied to your character’s load bracket, not to whether an individual piece of equipment is heavy.
According to the cited game-reference pages, the talisman has no defense effect below 70.0% equipment load, including light and medium load. The reported values are:

Does wearing heavy equipment activate it?
Only if your total equipment load puts you in the heavy or overloaded state. For example, wearing a heavy chest piece while staying below the heavy-load threshold does not activate the bonus. Check the load state shown on your equipment screen rather than judging by the weight of one item or the overall appearance of your character.
At heavy load, the cited figures indicate a smaller defensive bonus than at overload. Overloading is a separate bracket, beginning at 100.0% load in the cited breakdown; the talisman’s larger reported bonus does not remove the mobility tradeoff of carrying that much weight.

Where to find Verdigris Discus
The talisman is at the foot of a statue in the waterfall area of the Ancient Ruins of Rauh. One practical route, described by Game8, uses an Imbued Sword Key at the teleporter north of Castle Ensis, near Highroad Cross, and continues through the waterfall area to the statue. Elden Ring Wiki.gg also describes reaching the area by descending from the Divine Beast Dancing Lion arena, so the teleporter is not the only route described by references.
Access requirements
Game8 identifies the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion as required. Its access note says you must defeat Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood before entering the expansion.

Is Verdigris Discus worth a talisman slot?
It is most relevant if your build already operates at heavy load, or if you have deliberately chosen to overload for the reported higher defense. If you usually stay at light or medium load, the reference values indicate that equipping the talisman gives you no benefit.
For a build considering heavy or overloaded load, weigh the defense increase against the associated mobility cost and the benefit you would give up by removing another talisman. The available figures do not establish that the tradeoff is optimal for every build or encounter.
