Its appeal is chiefly to players who want varied offline WWE play; its online services have since shut down.
Is WWE 2K24 any good?
There is a substantial amount to do beyond standard exhibition matches. The 40-year WrestleMania Showcase gives the game a clear historical centerpiece, while MyRISE, MyGM, Universe and MyFACTION each offer a different way to engage with the roster. Four new match types add concrete variety to the ring.

What is new in WWE 2K24?
Four new match types
The four match types highlighted at launch were Special Guest Referee, Casket, Gauntlet and Ambulance. Backstage Brawl also supports multiple Superstars. These additions broaden the kinds of matches players can set up, rather than relying only on roster changes as the measure of a new annual entry. 2K’s announcement and the PlayStation feature page describe the additions.

Updated presentation and a large roster
2K said that more than 90% of facial expressions were updated. That is the publisher’s stated figure about facial expressions, not an independent graphics score or a claim that the game’s visuals improved by 90%. The publisher also announced more than 200 WWE Superstars and Legends; some roster members require unlocking or special content, so the announced total does not mean every character is immediately available in the base game. 2K’s announcement.
What are the main modes?
2K Showcase… of the Immortals
This mode revisits selected famous WrestleMania moments across the event’s 40-year history. 2K says its Slingshot Tech transitions between gameplay and live-action footage, and unlockable content provides additional challenges and replay value. It is the game’s most direct option for players drawn to wrestling history and recreating landmark matches. “Most immersive” is publisher positioning, not an independent finding. 2K’s announcement.

MyRISE
MyRISE offers two career arcs with original storylines. According to 2K, WWE Superstars and Legends—including Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes and Mick Foley—performed MyRISE voice work for the first time. MyGM

Universe
Universe is the sandbox for developing feuds and staging weekly shows. Its expanded rivalry actions, new cutscenes and double-title match support give players more tools for shaping their own ongoing wrestling world. PlayStation’s feature page.

MyFACTION is a collectible-card and faction mode with multiplayer and ranked QuickPlay features. Its online components are no longer available following the server shutdown described below, so it should not be treated as a reason to buy the game for active online play. Steam’s listing.

Can you still play WWE 2K24 online?
No. Steam’s current listing says WWE 2K24 multiplayer servers shut down on March 31, 2026, and server-dependent features no longer work after that date. Steam’s notice does not enumerate every affected feature on every platform, so the precise effect for each console version and mode is not established by that listing. Offline play should not be confused with server-dependent functions: the shutdown notice does not say that all offline modes stopped working. Steam’s listing.
Steam also says its PC product stopped being available for purchase on February 2, 2026. That is a Steam storefront status, not proof that every physical console edition or other retailer is unavailable. Steam’s listing.

Which edition or copy should you look for?
If you want the game now, a PS5 physical copy is the most direct product match; a PS4 physical copy may suit players on that console. Current stock, prices, used-disc condition and bonus-code status have not been verified, so check the individual listing rather than assuming a particular edition or code is included.
- Confirm the listing is for the correct console and region.
- Check whether the copy is new or used and whether any bonus codes are included and still redeemable.
- Do not buy it expecting active online play; Steam reports the multiplayer server shutdown on March 31, 2026.
At launch, 2K announced Standard, Standard Cross-Gen Digital, Deluxe and Forty Years of WrestleMania editions. Deluxe included a Season Pass for five post-launch character packs and other digital bonuses; Forty Years added a themed WrestleMania pack and arena. Those are historical edition details, not confirmation of what a current physical listing contains.
