High On Life 2 is out on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. This guide covers what you need to set up and play it: the story premise without late-game spoilers, how the skateboard works as a traversal and combat tool, which talking weapons return, platform release details, PC hardware requirements, and the accessibility options listed for PS5. Publisher listings and launch-era coverage describe the premise and systems but do not lay out mission order, objectives, boss tactics, or collectible locations, so this page does not offer a mission-by-mission solution. Where a detail is platform- or date-specific, it is labeled as such.
What the story sets up
According to the publisher’s premise, the protagonist has already built a reputation hunting bounties and saving humanity when a mysterious figure from their past places a price on the protagonist’s sister. That sets off the sequel’s main objective: stopping an intergalactic conspiracy and a pharmaceutical conglomerate that threaten human life. This is the official framing from the PlayStation Store and Xbox Wire listings, not an independent reading of the narrative, and nothing beyond the opening premise is described here.

How the skateboard works
The skateboard is the sequel’s main movement addition, and it does more than give you a faster way to cross the map. Xbox Wire’s launch coverage says it replaces the sprint function, improves agility, and supports three uses:
- Rail grinding along rails in the environment.
- Jumping over obstacles that would otherwise stop you.
- Projectile attacks against enemies, so the board doubles as a combat option.
Because the board replaces sprint, expect it to be your default way of covering ground once you have it. Xbox Wire does not give the button or stick mapping for these actions, so check the in-game control reminders on your platform. On PS5, the listing says control reminders are included among the accessibility features.

Squanch Games’ Chief Design Officer, Erich Meyr, explained the design origin in the same Xbox Wire interview:
“When we were brainstorming for High On Life 2, the idea scuttled its way from our collective unconscious, and we thought it would be even better as a normal skateboard that helps ground your character as an Earthling.”

Returning talking weapons
The sequel brings back several of the talking alien guns from the first game, along with new weapons. Xbox Wire names these returning weapons:
- Sweezy
- Creature
- Gus
- Knifey, which also returns from the original game’s High On Knife expansion
Coverage does not list every new weapon, so a complete roster is not established here. Weapon unlock timing and where each one is obtained also fall outside the material available for this guide.

PS5 setup and accessibility options
The PlayStation Store listing for the PS5 version includes these options:
- Adjustable stick sensitivity and inversion.
- Play without motion or touch controls.
- Play without vibration or adaptive triggers.
- Individual volume adjustment, plus mono and 3D audio.
- Basic subtitles, which the listing limits to the main story and main characters.
- Basic adjustable difficulty.
- Control reminders and the ability to pause during play or cinematics in offline mode.
The PS5 version supports DualSense vibration, so a DualSense wireless controller will give you the full feedback the game is built around. A DualSense is not required, since the vibration and adaptive trigger options can be turned off. These are the listing’s claims for PS5; confirm the equivalent settings on other platforms before assuming they match.
