Pokémon Legends: Z-A has 42 numbered main missions. Missions 1 through 38 make up the base story, which ends with “The Future of Lumiose City.” Missions 39 through 42 follow as post-story entries. The list below gives every title in order, so you can check what comes next or find a mission you have already completed.

How the first missions play out
The titles alone do not show what you are asked to do. Pokémon Database and Pokémon GO Hub describe the objectives of the early missions, and these are the opening steps:
- Mission 1, Get Your Travel Bag Back: chase Pancham and choose a Pokémon.
- Mission 2, Escape from the Battle Zone: head to safety at Hotel Z.
- Mission 3, A New Life in Lumiose City: learn the Pokémon Center, catch Pokémon in the Wild Zone, register them in the Pokédex, and handle Mable’s research requests.
- Mission 4, Battling in the Z-A Royale: earn Ticket Points and reach a promotion match.
Each main mission contains smaller ordered objectives. Mission-by-mission instructions beyond these four entries are outside this list, so use a full walkthrough if you need them.

How main missions unlock and how to track them
Main missions unlock in sequence, so you cannot skip ahead to a later number. Guide sources describe the following on-map indicators:
- Main missions appear with a yellow exclamation marker. Side missions use a blue marker.
- Selecting a mission as the map focus gives directions to its objective, according to Serebii.
- The map’s X-button screen lists completed and pending missions, according to PowerPyx.
- Side missions stay available in free roam after the story, so a blue marker is not a deadline.
These interface details come from guide sites rather than the official game documentation. The game’s menus may differ in wording or layout after an update.
