If Warframe keeps crashing on your PS5, there is no single confirmed cause that official guidance ties to the game on PlayStation, and no published fix that works for every player. The checks below run from the quickest, lowest-risk steps to the most disruptive. Work through them in order and stop once the game runs stably. As of October 2026, none of the official material we checked confirms a current, widespread Warframe crash on PS5.
What the official guidance does and does not cover
- PlayStation’s troubleshooting page, How to troubleshoot issues when starting a game, is written for games that will not start. Its steps (restart, restore licenses, delete and redownload, check system software, and the Safe Mode cache and database options) are general PS5 advice. Applying them to a game that closes during play is a reasonable extension of that guidance, not a guaranteed repair.
- Warframe Support says a Warframe update released close to a PlayStation firmware update can cause update problems, so system software is worth checking early.
- Warframe’s general crash article is written for PC. Its launcher, Windows update, graphics driver and file-verification steps do not apply to a PS5 and are left out here.
- Warframe’s network guidance is written for connection trouble. It is not evidence that a network change stops crashes.
Ten checks, from least to most disruptive
1. Restart the PS5 from the Power menu
Press the PS button on your controller, select Power, then choose Restart PS5. PlayStation specifies this route for games that will not start, and it is a better first step than repeatedly force-closing the game and relaunching it without a full console restart.
2. Install any pending PS5 system software update
Go to Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings and install any update that is available, then launch Warframe again. Because Warframe updates can clash with firmware releases, if a Warframe update is waiting, let it finish before testing again.
3. Check Warframe’s download status for a failed update
Open Notifications > Downloads and look for a Warframe update that shows as failed. Warframe Support says that deleting the failed update file should allow the correct version to download and install. Delete only the failed update file and let the download run again.

4. Restore your licenses
Use Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses on the account that plays Warframe. This is a low-risk check and is most relevant if the game shows an access or license error, or if you installed it under a different account.
5. Move Warframe off USB extended storage
PlayStation’s game-start guidance specifically calls out games stored on USB extended storage. If Warframe is installed on a USB drive, move it to the PS5’s internal storage through Settings > Storage, following the on-screen prompts for the game. Menu labels can differ slightly between system software versions, so follow what your console displays.

A PS4 or PS5 console with a wired connection via a LAN cable is recommended. Version 4.0 of the Remote Play App on iOS and iPadOS or version 4.1 on macOS is required for games to be playable with the controller over Bluetooth.
6. Clear the cache in Safe Mode
Turn the PS5 fully off. Press and hold the power button until you hear a second beep, then release it. Connect the controller with a USB cable and select the option to clear the cache and restart. PlayStation lists this among its troubleshooting steps. Follow its current Safe Mode instructions exactly, because option names are tied to the software version on your console.
7. Rebuild the database in Safe Mode
From the same Safe Mode menu, PlayStation lists a separate option to rebuild the database. Run it only after the cache step has been tried and the crash persists. This is a general repair for the console’s software database. It does not target a known Warframe defect, and it is no guarantee of a result.

8. Delete and reinstall Warframe
Reinstalling is the most disruptive step here, so do it only after the earlier checks. PlayStation recommends deleting and redownloading a game when a launch problem persists, which means a full new download. Before deleting, confirm that your Warframe progress is safe. The sources we checked do not explain how Warframe progress is stored on PS5, so check Warframe’s official account and save information first. Do not delete saved data on the assumption that it will be restored automatically.
9. If crashes coincide with disconnects, restart your network and test a wired connection
This check applies only if the crashes happen alongside connection drops or lag. Warframe Support recommends restarting your console and network devices, such as the router and modem. It also suggests a wired connection, because that can show whether Wi-Fi is causing the problem. A standard Ethernet cable from your router to the PS5 is enough for the test. If the game stays stable on the wired connection, Wi-Fi is the likely factor for those disconnects. If the crashes continue on a wired connection, return to the earlier steps.

10. Record the failure and contact Warframe Support
Write down the error code or message, the exact point where the crash happens, and the steps that trigger it. If you can, capture a screenshot or video. Warframe’s crash-report instructions ask for this context and advise keeping the report ID if the game provides one. Submit the details through Warframe Support’s technical support index.

These checks cannot rule out a live problem with the game. Look for official announcements from Warframe and PlayStation. If the crashes started after a recent Warframe or system update, mention the update date in your support report, as that timing is useful to the support team.
