Warcraft III: Reforged version 1.33.0, released August 10, 2022, added ranked and unranked play, seasonal ladder features, global custom games, camera controls and editor updates. Blizzard’s notes also list fixes for crashes, audio, portraits, race-specific interface behavior and other issues. This is a historical account of that release—not confirmation of the game’s current version or of later fixes.
What patch 1.33.0 added
Blizzard’s official patch notes, published August 10, 2022, describe a broad update spanning competitive play, custom games, camera options and the World Editor.
Ranked play, seasons and player records
- Players could choose Ranked or Unranked modes.
- The update introduced seasonal ladder resets and separate matchmaking ratings (MMR) for each race, including Random.
- Each race required five placement matches per season.
- Players could see match MMR and rank, and access player profiles and leaderboards.
- Classic portraits were added as an option.
Custom games and camera controls
Custom games became global, with filters to find games by ping across regions. Camera zoom settings were also added: zoom was disabled by default, could be enabled in gameplay options, and could be adjusted with Page Up and Page Down. F5 returned the camera to its defined default zoom. Players could set default and maximum zoom levels.
Campaign, server and interface changes
The notes also list campaign tuning, a Chicago proxy game server and interface changes. They do not provide a performance measurement or quantify the effects of these changes.

What mapmakers needed to know
Patch 1.33.0 upgraded PopcornFX to version 2.5.1.63447. Custom map effects baked with an older Popcorn version needed to be rebaked for the updated engine. The World Editor also gained an error message to flag outdated custom effects.
Issues Blizzard listed as fixed
The patch notes document fixes across the game client and World Editor:
- Files and editor: incorrect texture paths in FileAliases.JSON; a crash in the terrain palette when custom terrains were present; a crash when opening a map with an invalid object ID by double-clicking; and sorting in the World Editor import list.
- Effects and assets: a crash involving custom particle effects exported with an older Popcorn version. Reforged asset animation collisions were changed to match the original SD counterparts.
- Audio and presentation: music playing from the wrong playlist, unit voice lines failing to play, and in-game portrait animations not playing.
- Interface and controls: the in-game menu displaying Human UI for every race, the Insert key not rotating the camera as expected, and the “=” function in single-player cheats.
- Text: the Mountain King avatar ability text was corrected to “For Khaz Modan!”
What these notes do—and do not—confirm
The official notes establish the features and fixes Blizzard listed for version 1.33.0 on August 10, 2022. They do not establish which version is current now, whether later patches addressed regressions from 1.33.0, or whether every listed issue was fixed for every player. Consult current official release notes for present-day update status.
