“Warcraft driving” means using D.R.I.V.E.—World of Warcraft’s in-game vehicle feature—in Undermine. To get started, progress through the zone’s quests and complete “License Not Required” from Nanny Talullah to learn to drive the G-99 Breakneck. You steer it with the same mouse or mouse-and-keyboard movement controls used on foot; hold Spacebar to drift and charge a boost.
What is D.R.I.V.E. in World of Warcraft?
D.R.I.V.E. stands for “Dynamic and Revolutionary Improvements to Vehicular Experiences.” It is a controllable car feature for ground travel around Undermine, not a real-world driving activity or a general-purpose racing simulator. Blizzard describes the G-99 Breakneck as able to travel faster than a ground mount on Undermine’s roads, but does not publish a measured speed comparison. Blizzard’s feature announcement introduces the system and its controls.

How to unlock the G-99 Breakneck
Driving is introduced through Undermine’s zone progression. Blizzard’s guide identifies “License Not Required,” from Nanny Talullah, as the quest that teaches you to drive. Assistant Lead Quest Designer Mark Kelada describes the preceding campaign sequence as completing “Eyes from Above,” taking “No More Walkin’ Here,” then proceeding through the Breakneck tutorial. Kelada’s feature account on Xbox Wire explains that quest flow.
- Advance Undermine’s campaign through “Eyes from Above.”
- Take “No More Walkin’ Here” and continue the zone progression.
- Complete the Breakneck tutorial, including “License Not Required” from Nanny Talullah, to learn to drive.
D.R.I.V.E. controls: steering, drift, and boost
Use your usual movement scheme: Blizzard says you can move the car with the mouse or with mouse and keyboard, as you would while walking or mounted. The game’s basic movement guide describes those movement approaches.

#1 Best Overall
- World of Warcraft Game
- Includes Expansion Packs: The Burnings Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm, and Mists of Pandaria
- 30 days of free game time included
- Includes levels 1 through 90
- Subscription, Internet connection, and Battle.net registration required
- Steer: Use your normal mouse or mouse-and-keyboard movement controls.
- Drift and charge boost: Hold Spacebar as you take corners. The drift charges the car’s boost, so timing the hold around turns is part of driving effectively.
The feature’s appeal is not simply point-to-point travel: it asks you to manage corners and boost, unlike ordinary ground-mount movement.
What can you do with the car?
The G-99 Breakneck is both transport and a way into car-specific activities. It supports a passenger, and Undermine includes races on regular and reverse courses as well as activities such as deliveries. Kelada describes it as a passenger mount that lets friends explore the city together. The feature is built around Undermine’s streets and activities, rather than offering a standalone racing simulator.

Can you change the car or use a mount instead?
Vehicle customizations are available. Kelada’s feature account specifically notes that, after unlocking the car, players can immediately choose a lower top-speed engine. That option is useful if the standard setup feels too fast; the source does not establish a broader set of accessibility settings.
You can also travel with an ordinary ground mount instead. Blizzard presents D.R.I.V.E. as a way to get around Undermine, not as a requirement for every zone activity. Choose the car if you want its drift-and-boost handling or car races and activities; use a mount if you prefer familiar movement or do not want to drive. The official feature materials do not give measured speed figures or a systematic mount comparison.
What to know about version and availability
The cited Blizzard feature announcement was published January 29, 2025, and the developer’s Xbox Wire account followed on February 26, 2025. Those sources describe the feature as introduced with Undermine; they do not establish whether every mechanic or availability detail remains unchanged in later patches. For patch-sensitive details, check current World of Warcraft notes and in-game quest availability.
