Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2’s Techmarine update launched on February 26, 2026, as Patch 12.0. It added the playable Techmarine class, the Omnissian Axe, Techmarine-operated Tarantula Sentry Guns, and the Disruption PvE mission. The gameplay update was announced as free for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5; Patch 12 is no longer the latest update, with official announcements reporting Patch 15’s release on October 1, 2026.
What Patch 12.0 added
Focus Entertainment’s February 26, 2026 Patch Notes 12.0 describe a content update built around a new playable class and additional PvE combat. The update announcement said the gameplay additions were free on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.

How the Techmarine fights
Servo-Gun provides automatic fire
The Techmarine’s backpack-mounted Servo-Gun locks onto visible enemies and fires automatically while the player continues attacking with melee or ranged weapons. Warhammer Community’s recap also describes it firing while the Techmarine performs Gun Strikes against staggered enemies. This is the developer-described class design, not a claim about independently tested balance or performance.
Omnissian Axe combines single-target and area attacks
According to the patch notes, standard attacks with the signature axe damage one target, while finishing heavy attacks hit nearby enemies. A charged heavy attack can strike enemies along the axe’s path.

How Tarantula Sentry Guns work in PvE
Techmarines can find and activate Tarantula Sentry Guns during PvE missions. The turrets provide automatic suppressive fire, but have limited ammunition. When depleted, a sentry enters standby; the Techmarine can reactivate it to replenish its supplies.
What happens in the Disruption mission
Disruption takes place in Hive City Avarax. Space Marines first reinforce Cadian defenders facing a Tyranid swarm, then descend into the city’s lower levels alongside a Dreadnought to eliminate Thousand Sons forces.

Free gameplay versus accompanying content
The free gameplay update and the accompanying paid or pass-linked additions have different terms. The launch announcement listed the Raven Guard Champion Pack and Carcharodons Cosmetic Pack for Season Pass 2 owners, alongside Chapter Voice Pack 1; do not treat the cosmetics or voice pack as part of the free gameplay additions.
Chapter Voice Pack 1 re-recorded lines in the styles of the Blood Angels, Space Wolves, and Black Templars. Warhammer Community described it as containing over 1,300 voicelines. That number refers to the voice pack, not the Techmarine class or Patch 12’s gameplay features.

Patch 12’s place in the update timeline
Patch 12.0 is a February 2026 release, not a new October update. The official Space Marine 2 Steam announcements say Patch 15 released on October 1, 2026. Patch 12’s notes explain what arrived at its launch; they do not establish the Techmarine’s current post-Patch-15 balance or performance.
