Yes: Steam currently labels Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 “Playable” on Steam Deck. That is Valve’s compatibility rating, not a guarantee of smooth performance or confirmation that Saber Interactive has completed full official Steam Deck support. Saber said before the game launched that support was not ready and that it was targeting the end of 2024.
What is the Steam Deck status now?
The game-specific Steam Deck compatibility listing currently displays “Playable.” Valve describes its compatibility ratings as an assessment that can evolve as it and developers make improvements. The label is useful guidance, but it is not a promise that gameplay will be flawless on every Steam Deck or every game version. Valve’s explanation of the compatibility program provides context for what the rating means.
That rating is separate from Saber Interactive’s statement about its own support plans. The available official sources do not confirm that full developer-supported Deck compatibility was completed, and they do not establish current frame rates, battery life, stability, or multiplayer performance.
What Saber said before launch
In its launch-era Space Marine 2 FAQ, Saber Interactive said: “We are working on official Steam Deck support, but it’s not ready yet. We’re currently targeting the end of the year for full Steam Deck support.” Focus Entertainment’s August 2024 community update likewise said official support was still being worked on and was not ready.

What the Playable rating can—and cannot—tell you
- It tells you: Steam’s game-specific listing currently assigns the game a “Playable” compatibility label.
- It does not tell you: that the game runs flawlessly, performs consistently across Deck models or patches, or has full official support confirmed by Saber.
- It is not a performance test: the official sources cited here do not report current frame-rate, battery-life, stability, or multiplayer results on Steam Deck.
Because Valve’s compatibility assessments can change, check the live game-specific Steam listing before deciding whether to play on Deck.
