GamesRadar reported that Steam concurrency reached about 175,000 on December 10, citing SteamDB. That is a secondary-reported estimate of players online at the same time on Steam—not a count across all platforms, not cumulative accounts, and not evidence by itself that servers failed.
The same GamesRadar report attributed this statement to creative director Rebecca Ford: “we are doing our best out here to keep things alive but we were not expecting this much of a jump.” The original social post is not independently verified here, so the wording should be understood as a quote reported by GamesRadar.
What was included in The Old Peace?
Update 41 is a free, multi-platform release built around a cinematic story chapter revisiting the Old War and Tau. Its additions include two modes, new weapons, systems, characters, and cosmetics, as described in the official launch announcement.

The quest and new modes
Completing the quest unlocks the Dark Refractory, a new navigation point for The Perita Rebellion and The Descendia. The Update 41 notes also describe Mission Preview as an experimental way to try those modes before completing the main quest. Preview does not skip the quest or grant its rewards.
Is The Old Peace still relevant?
Yes. The Old Peace is a released update, not an upcoming one: the official patch-notes index lists Update 41 as released December 10, 2025, and includes later updates through October 7, 2026. It also remains a story prerequisite. Digital Extremes’ September 4, 2026 Taubound notice says players must complete both The Hex and The Old Peace quests to access the Tau Prologue.

How to read Warframe player-count claims
- Concurrent players counts people playing at the same time; it is not the number of people who have ever played.
- Steam concurrency covers Steam, not Warframe’s full multi-platform audience.
- Connection reports describe player experiences but do not establish a server-side root cause.
For context, Digital Extremes said in its TennoCon 2025 announcement that Warframe had more than 85 million players. That is a cumulative figure stated by the company in 2025, not The Old Peace’s launch-day concurrent count.
