IGN’s Simon Cardy described the footage as relatively smooth, but the video is not a performance test: its 1080p and 30fps YouTube encoding makes image quality hard to judge and does not establish the game’s actual resolution or frame rate.
What the base-PS5 footage shows
Cardy reported that the lengthy video on PlayStation Japan’s YouTube channel showed gameplay on a standard PS5. Watching the captured footage, he saw no noticeable frame dips or hitches and characterized it as relatively smooth. That is an observation of the video, not a measurement of frame pacing or proof that the console holds a particular frame rate throughout the game. IGN’s report, syndicated by Yahoo Tech on March 17, 2026, appeared two days before launch.
What the video cannot prove about PS5 performance
YouTube presented the upload at 1080p and 30fps, according to Cardy. Those figures describe the video encoding, not confirmed in-game resolution or output. Compression and the limited presentation make fine visual detail difficult to assess, while a smooth-looking clip cannot establish performance across the full game or in every scene.
Pearl Abyss’s March 10, 2026 PC, console and Mac performance specifications are the separate official reference for platform modes. The available specification excerpt does not establish the base PS5’s individual resolution and frame-rate targets, so those values should not be inferred from this clip.

What official settings notes add
Pearl Abyss later noted that 120Hz output is optional on PS5 and Xbox. Its Version 1.00.03 notes, dated March 24–25, 2026, also describe a Balanced Mode V-Sync condition: output may lock to 30 FPS when frame rate fluctuates between 30 and 40 FPS. The notes recommend 120Hz output where supported, or disabling V-Sync in a VRR-supported environment, for smoother play above 40 FPS. These are settings-specific caveats, not a guarantee of the same result for every display or player.
