FragPunk weapon tier list: the latest editorial snapshot
DotGG’s September 2026 guide places weapons in these tiers. The developer does not publish a canonical tier list, and the list below reflects one outlet’s editorial judgment rather than measured pick rates or win rates.

A separate guide published May 20, 2026 takes a narrower view, naming Discipline, Fever, Ghost Pepper, and Meat Maker as S tier. Its stated considerations include overall effectiveness, ease of use, versatility, and role value. The disagreement matters: tier labels are editorial judgments, not a universal consensus or a substitute for choosing a weapon that fits your fights. How to choose a weapon for your fights
Start with your expected range
Choose based on the distances you are likely to take engagements at. Broad role guidance describes marksman rifles as medium-to-long-range options, shotguns as close-range choices, and SMGs as suited to aggressive close engagements. This is general orientation from a March 2025 guide, not a guarantee about current balance or every weapon in those categories. (Game Truth, March 2025)

- POST-APOCALYPTIC SURVIVAL GAME: In Frostpunk, players will take on the role of leaders of a small colony of survivors in a post-apocalyptic world that was hit by a severe ice age. Their duty is to effectively manage both its infrastructure and citizens.

Balance damage against control
A weapon’s theoretical effectiveness is less useful if you cannot handle it consistently. The May 2026 guide explicitly includes ease of use and versatility in its ranking considerations. When comparing two choices, factor in how reliably you can aim and react with each, not just its tier placement. (Position is Everything, May 20, 2026)
Consider your role and comfort
The May 2026 guide recommends matching a weapon to your role for the round and the fights you prefer. An S-tier label does not make a weapon the best fit for every player or situation. FragPunk’s short rounds and fast kills reward quick decisions: the official June 9, 2024 announcement says, “Each round lasts 2.5 minutes, so get a move on! The short TTK means you have to aim well and react fast to win the fight.” That is launch-era game copy about match pace, not a claim that any particular weapon performs best. Check how recent the balance information is
Weapon rankings can age when behavior changes. FragPunk’s official July 9, 2026 update notes adjustments to Boom Broom, Highlife, My Way, and Vicious. Those changes are a reason to date any tier list; an unmentioned weapon should not automatically be assumed to have stayed the same strength relative to the rest of the roster. They should not be treated as current values without checking later balance notes.
