That is a specific puzzle solution—not a universal explanation for every drawing in the manor.
How the paired paintings spell their message
Across manor rooms, paintings appear in pairs associated with words. Compare the words in each pair: the letter that differs is the letter to extract. Read those letters in sequence to reveal the instruction. Jake Bishop’s Clawsomegamer guide, published May 7, 2025 and updated July 31, 2025, gives examples including Chief/Chef → I, Flight/Light → F, Wheat/Heat → W, Planet/Plant → E, Crate/Rate → C, and Boat/Bat → O. The Study hint identifies the Entrance Hall pair Face/Ace, yielding F.
The resulting message is “IF WE COUNT SMALL GATES EIGHT DATES CRACK EIGHT SAFES.” The wording points toward a pattern behind multiple safe codes; it does not itself provide every safe combination. Jason Rodriguez’s April 11, 2025 TechRadar review likewise describes the paintings as paired clues whose 44-character phrase hints at another puzzle.
Not every drawing is part of that cipher
Blue Prince has other artwork contexts, and it is useful not to conflate them with the repeated word-pair puzzle.

| Artwork | What the player does | What is established |
|---|---|---|
| Recurring paired paintings | Compare the paired words and extract their differing letters. | The letters form the safe-related instruction. Clawsomegamer and TechRadar. |
| Drawing Room sketches and portrait | Inspect the wall sketches and the unfinished portrait of Herbert Sinclair on an easel. | A room description notes that a candelabra in the portrait is drawn from a different angle than the candelabra on the mantel. That visual difference may reward close observation, but no complete symbolic meaning for the room’s sketches is established. Blue Prince Wiki, Drawing Room. |
| Gallery’s abstract paintings | Choose a word for each of four abstract images. | This is a separate artwork puzzle, not another instance of the paired-word extraction. TechRadar credits Christopher Manson, author of Maze: Solve the World’s Most Challenging Puzzle, with designing the Gallery puzzle. A Blue Prince Wiki search-result description reports that the images have letter tiles and no titles, but that specific detail is secondary-source reporting. |
What the pictures mean—and what they do not
The paired paintings have a demonstrable function as a word-difference cipher: their extracted letters form an instruction about safe codes. Beyond that mechanic, the available accounts do not establish a definitive symbolic meaning for every image or sketch, nor do they provide a developer statement confirming one. Treat the safe message as the solution to that particular puzzle, and consider the Drawing Room portrait and Gallery images as distinct clues with their own contexts.
