Buff.game may be worth a look if you already play games it supports and are comfortable running a background rewards app—but its value depends on the games you play, the data it collects, and rewards currently available to you. Buff describes a loop of playing supported games to earn BUFF Points and exchanging those points for marketplace rewards. Public information does not establish an independent security audit, measured performance results, a reliable earning rate, or current reward inventory, so treat the company’s assurances and promotional figures as claims rather than proof of what you will get.
How Buff.game works
Buff presents itself as a gaming rewards program. According to its help article, the desktop app runs in the background while you play supported games; gameplay activity earns BUFF Points, which can then be redeemed through its marketplace. Buff says its rewards may include gift cards, gaming gear, and Steam keys. These are descriptions of the service by Buff, not a guarantee that a particular item is in stock or available in your country.
Buff describes the same general service as available through desktop and mobile applications, but the detailed play-and-earn explanation is for desktop. Check the current app and support information for the device and games you intend to use. Buff: How does BUFF work? · Buff homepage
What determines whether it is worth using?
The central question is not whether points can be earned in principle, but whether your play produces enough points for a reward you actually want and can redeem. Public pages do not establish an independently verified earning rate or the time required to reach a redemption threshold. Nor do they verify live reward stock or availability by country, platform, or account. Check the logged-in marketplace before counting a listed reward as attainable.

- Reward terms: Check the live point cost, stock, regional eligibility, redemption channel, expiration rules, and processing time before investing time toward a reward.
- Time and friction: Compare the reward you can actually claim with your ordinary play time, while allowing for possible tracking or redemption problems. No dependable return-on-time figure is established.
Safety, game approval, and performance
Safety claims are not an independent audit
Buff says the app runs through Overwolf and that Overwolf reviews apps published on its platform. That is useful context, but it is Buff’s account, not an independent malware analysis or security audit of Buff. If you install it, obtain the app from Buff’s official channels and make your own decision about running it alongside games.
Buff’s safety explanation is available in its “Is BUFF safe to use?” article and its “I’m Concerned” FAQ.

API use is not the same as direct publisher approval
Buff says it uses publicly available APIs through Overwolf and does not need direct authorization from each game developer. That statement does not establish that every publisher has directly approved Buff, or that every game and use is approved in every jurisdiction. If publisher rules or anti-cheat compatibility matter to you, check the relevant game’s current rules rather than treating Buff’s explanation as universal approval. Buff: Is BUFF approved by game developers?
FPS and system impact are not quantified here
Buff has a help-center topic addressing whether the app affects FPS, but the available public evidence does not establish measured performance results or a benchmark. Your experience may depend on your hardware, game, and other running software; close the app if you notice unwanted performance or stability changes. Buff’s Trust & Security collection is the place to consult for its current support guidance.

Data and privacy: what Buff says it collects
Buff says it collects gameplay-related information, including performance, achievements, and progress. That short support summary does not enumerate every data category or explain all sharing, retention, or user-rights details. Review the data-collection help article alongside the full current privacy policy before deciding whether the trade-off is acceptable.
Points, expiration, and redemption terms
The terms state that desktop points cannot be withdrawn as cash: “the Buff Desktop Points cannot be withdrawn as cash in any way.” They also say accumulated points may be subject to an expiration period and that some redemption requests may take up to 14 business days to process. These conditions make the points a restricted rewards balance, not cash earnings. Review the current terms and the marketplace’s specific redemption details before relying on a reward. How large is Buff, according to Buff?
Buff’s homepage currently advertises “18M+ Players,” “400K daily users,” “3M matches played every day,” and “1,500+ Supported Games.” These are company-published promotional figures, accessed in 2026; they are not independently audited user counts, and they do not show that a particular game or region is supported. No independent study or published statistic establishing users’ redemption success, security outcomes, or performance impact is established here. Buff homepage
Verdict: a conditional option, not dependable income
Buff is most plausible for someone who already plays supported games, is willing to review the privacy and terms, and sees a currently redeemable marketplace reward worth pursuing. It is a poor fit if you expect cash, need independently verified performance or security evidence, or would install it solely on the assumption that points will translate into a worthwhile reward. Check support, the full privacy policy, terms, and live marketplace details before deciding; the public evidence does not justify promising a particular payout or value for your time.
