These labels describe squad size, not how many total players are in a match. Match populations and squad sizes are separate details.
Does every Warzone mode offer all four sizes?
No. A mode may be limited to a particular squad size, and playlists can rotate or change. Activision’s Warzone guide documents Bootcamp as quad-only, including for players using squad fill; that restriction applies to Bootcamp, not Warzone as a whole.
Other examples are tied to specific modes or dates. Xbox Wire reported on March 13, 2026, that Black Ops Royale supports up to 100 players across 25 squads of four (Xbox Wire). This describes Black Ops Royale’s format; it does not mean every Warzone queue uses Quads.

A Season 03 guide published by Xbox Wire on April 2, 2025, described ranked Battle Royale as Trios and Plunder as Quads, while its squad widget covered Duos, Trios or Quads (Xbox Wire). Activision’s 2025 World Series of Warzone rules also specify squads of three for the competitive WSOW Trios format (Activision). Those dated examples show how formats differ; they do not establish today’s casual playlist lineup.
How to find the available squad sizes
- Open Warzone’s in-game playlist or mode-selection screen.
- Choose the mode you want, such as Battle Royale or Resurgence.
- Check the listed squad-size options before queuing. If a size is not shown for that mode, it is not selectable in the active playlist.
The complete live lineup for October 8, 2026, is not established by the dated mode descriptions above, so the in-game list is the reliable place to confirm what is available when you play.
