Each species has five mutation slots, and players commonly call a dragon with all five filled “fully mutated” or “FM.”
What a mutation means
The Dragon Adventures Wiki describes mutations as unique physical features a dragon can gain. They change its appearance and do not provide an advantage or disadvantage in gameplay. Although the mutation icon uses a double helix, the game’s mutation mechanic is cosmetic; it is not a measure of a dragon’s strength or health.
How the five mutation slots work
Each species has five possible mutations. A dragon may have some or all of them, and a dragon with all five is commonly called “fully mutated” or “FM” by players. “FM” is informal community shorthand, rather than an official developer-defined term.
Mutation versus traits that affect stats
Do not treat a mutation count as a stat score. A fan guide distinguishes cosmetic traits, which affect appearance, from genetic traits, which affect stats. Those are separate concepts; having more mutations does not, by itself, mean a dragon has better stats.

How dragons get or lose mutations
Breeding and other acquisition routes
Mutations can come from hatching, Dragon Season claims, bundles, other non-breeding sources, and breeding. The wiki says breeding dragons that already have multiple mutations increases the chance of a multi-mutated offspring compared with breeding two dragons without mutations. It does not establish a current numerical chance in the material available here.
Mutation Potion
A Mutation Potion adds one mutation the dragon does not already have, chosen at random; it does not let the player pick a specific missing mutation. A Mutation Potion therefore fills a missing slot, but the exact appearance outcome is not selectable.

Mutation Cure Potion
A Mutation Cure Potion removes one random mutation from the dragon. It is the reverse kind of change from adding a missing mutation, not a way to choose which mutation to remove.

The wiki’s detailed probability figures are explicitly historical: they apply before an unknown date in January 2025. They should not be read as current odds. No current official mutation odds are established here, so avoid relying on an exact percentage unless it is confirmed in up-to-date game information.
