In the United States, the Xbox store listing showed Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition for PC at $29.99 or more when checked on October 8, 2026. That PC bundle includes both Java and Bedrock. Console and mobile prices depend on their platform stores, and a complete current price list for those versions is not established here. Realms hosting is optional and costs extra.
How much does Minecraft cost?
The verified US price in the available official listings is for the PC bundle, not every version of Minecraft. Xbox displayed Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition for PC at $29.99 or more on October 8, 2026. The Xbox listing describes the PC product, which includes Minecraft for Windows (Bedrock), Java Edition, and the Launcher. Check the Xbox listing for the current checkout price and selected edition.
Minecraft says buyers of the PC bundle get both versions “for the price of one” on its official overview. This does not mean that one PC purchase also licenses the game on a console or phone. Console and mobile purchases are handled through their platform stores, and current prices for all of those versions are not established by the official pages referenced here.

Which edition should you choose?
Start with the device you own
Java Edition is for Windows, macOS, and Linux PCs. Bedrock is available on supported Windows PCs, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS devices. The Windows PC bundle includes both editions; the official overview identifies Mac and Linux as Java-only. See Minecraft’s Java-versus-Bedrock comparison and its platform availability help page for the platform details.
Match the edition your friends play
Java multiplayer is with other Java players on Windows, Mac, and Linux. Bedrock multiplayer connects Bedrock players across supported Windows, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and mobile devices. Java and Bedrock are separate multiplayer ecosystems, so ask your friends which edition they use before buying.

- Skins! We have biome settlers, city folk, town folk, and more!
- The Nether and all its inhabitants. Fight Ghasts and make friends with Pigmen
- Cross platform play for up to five players between Pocket Edition and Windows 10

Choose based on how you play
Minecraft’s comparison lists mods and community servers among Java’s features. Bedrock offers Marketplace content, add-ons, controller and touch support, and cross-play across supported device types. The PC product page says Java does not have native controller support at this time. Consider the features you actually want rather than assuming one edition is universally better.
Buy for the platform you intend to use
Minecraft’s purchase and platform help page directs Java buyers to minecraft.net and points console and mobile buyers to their respective stores, including Microsoft/Xbox, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, iOS, and Android. Check the country, platform, and edition shown at checkout. A PC license should not be treated as a universal license for other devices.

What can add to the cost?
Realms hosting
Realms is paid hosting for playing with invited friends. The Bedrock options differ in their stated player capacity and whether they include a curated collection of Marketplace Pass content; Java Realms is for Java Edition. Compare those features with your group’s needs before subscribing. The monthly prices and player descriptions are listed above from Minecraft’s official page.
Console online multiplayer
Some console online play may require a platform subscription sold separately. The Xbox PC product listing specifically says online multiplayer on console requires Xbox Game Pass Essential, Premium, or Ultimate. This is distinct from the PC game purchase and is not a requirement for every platform or every way of playing.

No, if you already bought the PC version. The PC product page says to install the Launcher, sign in with the same Microsoft account used for the purchase, and download the game from your library. This applies to reinstalling on a new PC; it does not establish that a PC purchase includes a separate console or mobile license.
PC storage guidance
Minecraft’s PC product page gives these storage figures. They are storage requirements, not complete computer specifications.

| Bedrock Edition | 4 GB | 8 GB |
