Players report bass at Lake Don Julio, including smallmouth bass, but available guides do not provide a definitive species-by-species list for the lake. The Legendary Largemouth Bass is nearby in the San Luis River southeast of the lake—not in Lake Don Julio.
Which fish are reported at Lake Don Julio?
Community posts identify bass as a good catch at Lake Don Julio, with one specifically mentioning smallmouth bass. These are player reports, not an official or exhaustive inventory. The RDO Guide’s fishing page identifies Lake Don Julio as a fishing location, but its species information does not list every fish found in this particular lake.
A community fishing chart lists largemouth bass in southern lakes, southern rivers, and swamps. That broad habitat description makes the species plausible in the area, but it does not confirm a Lake Don Julio spawn or establish which bass you will catch there. The chart was posted on May 29, 2019, so treat it as community guidance rather than a current official inventory.
Is the Legendary Largemouth Bass in Lake Don Julio?
No. The Legendary Largemouth Bass location is on the San Luis River southeast of Lake Don Julio, in New Austin. The IGN legendary-fish guide places it on that river and recommends the Special River Lure. The community chart likewise names the San Luis River as the nearby legendary location. Those references describe a river location, not a catch in the lake.

What bait or lure should you use?
General Red Dead Online fishing guidance associates food baits with smaller fish and describes a Lake Lure for medium or large lake fish. It also lists worms for medium-sized lake fish. This is general advice by water type and fish size, not a verified Lake Don Julio-specific bait prescription. The available species information does not establish a precise bait-and-species pairing for this lake.

What to expect when fishing there
- Expect bass according to player reports; one report specifically mentions smallmouth bass. See the community discussions on bass fishing spots and hunting and fishing locations.
- Do not treat those reports as a complete or officially confirmed list of Lake Don Julio’s fish.
- For the Legendary Largemouth Bass, fish the San Luis River southeast of the lake rather than assuming it is in the lake.
