In 99 Nights in the Forest, the Vampire Cloak is armor that reduces incoming damage and passively fills a Blood Meter at night. When the meter fills, the wearer regains some health. The exact healing amount and whether the meter pauses during combat are less settled, because player-maintained wiki pages disagree on them.
The name also appears on unrelated Roblox avatar accessories and virtual costume items, so this article covers only the in-game cloak from 99 Nights in the Forest.
What the cloak does
- Damage reduction. It lowers the damage the wearer takes, which makes it a defensive armor piece.
- Passive nighttime filling. Its Blood Meter fills on its own during the night. Pages describe this as the cloak’s core function, not something the wearer must activate.
- A heal when the meter is full. Completing the meter restores some of the wearer’s health. Wiki descriptions agree that a heal happens, but they do not agree on how much.
How the Blood Meter works and where sources disagree
The shared mechanics are consistent across the pages that describe them: damage reduction, nighttime filling, and a heal on a full meter. The details beyond that vary, as the table below shows.
| Source type | Heal when the meter is full | Meter behavior during combat | Date of information |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fan-maintained armor page on the 99 Nights in the Forest wiki (Fandom) | About 25% of maximum HP per full meter | Stops filling during combat | Year of publication or update not established |
| Other item pages on player-maintained wikis | Described only as a "decent amount" or "small amount" of health | Not stated | Not stated |
| Another item description | Not stated | Not stated; ties filling to nighttime and to harming or killing an entity | Not stated |
The 25% figure is the most specific number available, but it comes from one fan-maintained page and is contradicted in tone by the vaguer descriptions elsewhere. Treat it as a reported value, not a confirmed game statistic. The same caution applies to the combat pause: if you rely on it, test the behavior in your own game session before planning a fight around it.

How to get the cloak
Player-maintained references list two separate routes:
- The Vampire Chest. Also called the Hedge Maze Chest, it sits at the end of the Hedge Maze and can contain the cloak.
- The Vampire Class. The class page lists the cloak among its starter tools, so choosing this class gives it without a chest search.
How it compares with other armor and with lifesteal
Against Iron Body
The armor wiki says Iron Body protects better than the Vampire Cloak. The trade-off is clear from that: the cloak gives up some damage reduction in exchange for passive healing at night. The sources do not give current numerical values for either armor, so you should not assume a fixed percentage gap.
Rank #2
- Every night grows harder with stronger enemies and fewer resources.
- Explore deep forests, caves, camps, and hidden areas.
- Collect wood, stone, berries, food, and craft weapons, tools, and shelter upgrades.
- Fortify your camp to survive wild animals and mysterious night creatures.
- Watch out for wolves, bears, and unknown supernatural threats.
Against Vampire Class lifesteal
The Vampire Class page describes lifesteal energy gained from attacks with melee weapons. That is a separate class perk. The cloak’s contribution is the passive nighttime meter, so the two do not stack into one mechanic and should not be confused when you compare builds.
Same name, different items
Searches for "Vampire Cloak" also return Roblox catalog accessories and a Second Life listing. These are digital costume or avatar items with no connection to the 99 Nights in the Forest mechanic. If you want to know what the cloak does in the game, use game-specific wiki pages.

What is and is not established
No official developer statement, patch note, or game document confirming these details was found when this article was prepared. The information comes from player-maintained wikis and a player discussion, so it may lag behind game updates. The reliable core is the damage reduction, the nighttime Blood Meter, and the heal on a full meter. The heal amount, the combat behavior, and the armor comparison should be checked against the current game before you rely on them.
