Start with Moonlighter if you want the closest match to Cult of the Lamb’s action-and-management rhythm: expeditions provide loot, then you run a shop. Choose Hades if combat matters most, V Rising if you want a base tied to combat progression, or DAVE THE DIVER for a lighter action-and-restaurant-management change of pace. None is a one-to-one replacement; the right pick depends on which half of Cult of the Lamb you want more of.
What makes Cult of the Lamb distinctive?
Cult of the Lamb alternates between caring for a growing cult and heading out on action expeditions. PlayStation’s official game listing describes gathering resources, building structures, performing rituals, giving sermons, exploring procedurally generated regions, and fighting enemies and rival cult leaders. That mix is why the best next game depends on whether you want to preserve the combat, the between-run management, or both.
The recommendations below are based on the comparison in GAMESLIKE’s guide, updated September 5, 2026; they are not presented as first-hand playtest results.
Compare the best next games
| Game | Best for | What you do between action sequences | How it differs from Cult of the Lamb |
|---|---|---|---|
| Moonlighter | Keeping both action and management | Price and sell loot from dungeon runs in a shop | Shopkeeping replaces cult and follower management. |
| Hades | Combat-first play | Use a hub for story and preparation | It has far less settlement management. |
| V Rising | A base that supports combat progression | Develop a home base as part of progression | It leans more strongly into survival. |
| DAVE THE DIVER | A lighter action-and-operations loop | Run a restaurant | It changes the activity and tone rather than closely matching cult combat. |
Moonlighter: the closest fit for action plus management
Moonlighter is the strongest pick if you like returning from an expedition with something to do beyond preparing for the next fight. Its core loop pairs dungeon combat and loot collection with pricing and selling that loot in a shop. That gives it the same broad run-and-return shape as Cult of the Lamb, though the management is commercial rather than communal: you operate a shop, not a following.

Hades: choose it for combat
If the action runs are what you most want to keep, Hades is the combat-first recommendation. The comparison guide highlights its action-roguelite combat, weapon variety, and run-building. Its hub offers story and preparation, not a settlement that needs routine upkeep, so it is a less suitable choice if cult management is essential to the appeal.
V Rising: choose it for a functional base
V Rising is a better fit when you want a home base connected to combat progression. It is not a close match for the cult-sim side of Cult of the Lamb, because its broader orientation is survival. Pick it for the combination of base development and combat, rather than expecting follower care or rituals.

DAVE THE DIVER: choose a lighter management change of pace
DAVE THE DIVER offers an action-and-operations rhythm, with restaurant management providing the between-expedition activity. It is a change of pace from Cult of the Lamb’s cult duties and combat, not a close substitute for either its setting or its management systems.
How to pick
- Want a return-from-the-run management loop? Try Moonlighter for dungeon loot and shopkeeping.
- Want the action with less upkeep? Choose Hades.
- Want your base to support combat progression? Choose V Rising, accepting its stronger survival focus.
- Want lighter action paired with running a business? Choose DAVE THE DIVER.
Check platform and edition before buying
The comparison guide supports these recommendations, but it does not establish current platform availability, physical editions, prices, or regional stock for Moonlighter, Hades, V Rising, or DAVE THE DIVER. Check the relevant platform store for the edition and region you want before purchasing. For Cult of the Lamb itself, Nintendo’s US store listing shows a Nintendo Switch game-card option and a Woolhaven DLC item dated January 22, 2026; those details concern the source game and do not establish availability for the other titles.
