If your edition includes Reaper of Souls, you can continue in Adventure Mode, take on bounties and Nephalem Rifts, improve your character’s gear, or choose a tougher Greater Rift challenge. Seasons offer a separate option: start a new character and work through that season’s challenges.
What changes after the campaign?
The campaign is one way to play, not a final endpoint. Reaper of Souls added Act V, raised the level cap to 70, and introduced Adventure Mode with bounties and Nephalem Rifts. Blizzard’s Ultimate Evil Edition announcement describes those features; what is available to you depends on your game edition and platform.

In Adventure Mode, bounties are randomized objectives, while Nephalem Rifts are randomized dungeons. Both provide repeatable ways to explore and seek loot without replaying the campaign as your only option.
How can you keep progressing?
Continue with your existing character
Use Adventure Mode activities to keep developing the character you already played through the story. Finding gear and improving your build can make higher-difficulty challenges more manageable.

Try Greater Rifts
Greater Rifts provide a more demanding progression challenge. Their role in continued play is reflected in Blizzard’s Season 40 preview, which lists reaching Greater Rift Level 60 solo as a Season Journey objective. That is an objective for that season, not a permanent requirement or a universal target; seasonal objectives can change.
Should you continue your character or start a Season?
These are different routes, not a required sequence. Choose based on whether you want to preserve your current character’s continuity or begin a fresh seasonal run.

How do Seasons work?
Blizzard describes seasonal characters as starting from scratch and sharing progress with other seasonal characters while remaining separate from non-seasonal characters during an active season. The Season Journey provides challenges and rewards. You do not have to play Seasons to continue after the campaign.
Season details are time-sensitive. Blizzard announced that Season 29 would be the last to introduce a brand-new theme, with past themes and features expected to return roughly every three months after Season 30. That announcement does not identify which season is active on the day you play; check Blizzard’s official season announcements for current dates, mechanics, and rewards.

What happens to a Seasonal character when the Season ends?
Blizzard’s console Season guide says earned items and progress roll over to non-seasonal play. It also says items earned during a season and placed in the mailbox must be collected within 30 days. That timing and guidance come from an older console guide, so check current in-game notices for your platform rather than assuming the same interface or process applies everywhere.
