What botting means in Rainbow Six Siege
Ubisoft defines botting as “using bots, scripts, or automatic systems to mimic player behavior and farm progression” in its August 7, 2026 Community Checkpoint. The game-specific Player Protection Core Rules describe the conduct as using bots, scripts, or automation to mimic a player and farm XP or resources.
The rules also prohibit simulating participation without actually playing in order to stall or disrupt a match. The relevant distinction is the behavior and its purpose—not whether a player simply appears inexperienced or performs poorly.
Is botting bannable?
Yes. Ubisoft’s Player Protection Core Rules prohibit automation used to farm XP or resources, along with fake participation intended to stall or disrupt matches. Ubisoft says violations can lead to consequences up to a permanent ban on all accounts. That is the possible upper limit, not a guaranteed penalty for every case: Ubisoft says sanctions depend on the severity, frequency, and intent of the behavior.

The rules cover more than successful use in a match: they also address attempted use, possession, or promotion of tools that provide an unfair advantage. Ubisoft’s broader Terms of Use likewise prohibit bots, macros, scripts, or unauthorized third-party tools or devices used to gain an unfair advantage.
Are Rainbow Six training bots cheating?
No. “Bot” has two distinct meanings in this context:

Ubisoft’s feature article on Siege’s AI development describes the training opponents and their development. The implementation described there was for practice, not live PvP matches. The article is historical, so it should not be read as a guarantee about every later feature or mode.
How to report suspected botting
- Use the in-game report option. Select the category that best matches the suspected cheating. Ubisoft’s current Community Checkpoint asks players to report suspected cheating through the correct in-game category.
- Distinguish what you observed from what you infer. Describe the conduct you saw rather than treating a particular movement pattern, idling, or poor performance as proof of automation.
- Contact Ubisoft Support if you have video evidence. Ubisoft’s older cheating and banning FAQ also recommends contacting Support when video evidence is available. Because that guidance is older, prioritize the current in-game reporting instructions.
Ubisoft says manual bans follow review of evidence and backend data; a clip posted online alone is not the sole basis for a manual ban. An older Ubisoft anti-cheat explainer describes using game data and community reports to identify idle botters, with automated sanctions and manual investigations. That is background on Ubisoft’s approach, not a promise about how every current case is detected or handled.

What can—and cannot—be concluded from a suspected case
A single suspicious-looking action does not establish that someone is botting. Poor play, inactivity, or an unusual movement pattern by itself does not prove automation or intent. Report relevant observations and let Ubisoft assess them under its rules.
The official sources cited here do not publish a current botting-specific ban count or false-positive rate. Ubisoft’s historical player total in its AI feature article is not a current population figure and does not show how common botting is.
