MIG Switch—now commonly branded by its maker as MIG Flash—is a third-party cartridge that reads Nintendo Switch game-card data stored on a microSD card. The manufacturer describes it as a way to use backed-up game-card data; Nintendo classifies MIG Switch/MIG Flash as a circumvention device, not an official or supported Nintendo accessory.

What is MIG Switch for Nintendo?

MIG Switch is the earlier, commonly used name for the product the manufacturer now calls MIG Flash. The maker describes the MIG Flash game card cartridge as hardware that reads game data from a microSD card. Its product page says the cartridge and a microSD card are required for its described backup-play use, while the MIG Flash Dumper is a separate, optional product used to make backups. The microSD card is not included, according to the manufacturer. Manufacturer product page

These are the manufacturer’s descriptions, not independent test results or Nintendo endorsement. Nintendo identifies MIG Switch/MIG Flash as a circumvention device. Nintendo Intellectual Property & Piracy FAQ

How does MIG Flash work?

At a high level, the maker’s instructions describe creating a backup from a physical game card. That backup includes a game-card image in XCI format and associated card-data files. The files are stored on microSD, which the MIG Flash cartridge reads when used in a Switch. The maker’s FAQ says the cartridge can cycle among stored game files and locks to the selected ROM after launch. Manufacturer product page

What compatibility claims are established?

Those are manufacturer claims, not Nintendo support statements or independent verification. The available information does not establish compatibility across specific console models, firmware revisions, or Switch 2 configurations. Manufacturer product page

Nintendo says Switch game cards generally are not region-locked, except for consoles and game cards distributed in the Chinese region. It also says it has not tested every overseas game’s operation on consoles from other regions and cannot guarantee full service and support. This general rule concerns Nintendo game cards; it does not confirm MIG Flash compatibility. Nintendo game-card compatibility guidance Nintendo region-lock guidance
