Timid is the best general default for a competitive special-attacking Charizard. For a physical set, choose Jolly when Speed matters most, or Adamant when the set already boosts Speed and needs more Attack. The right choice depends on Charizard’s role and the game or format you’re playing.
Which nature should you choose?

These are role-based recommendations, not a universal ranking. The cited community answer gives Generation 9 examples and notes that movesets vary by generation; its advice is not an official competitive ruling. Why Timid is the usual special-attacker default
Charizard’s listed Scarlet and Violet base stats are 78 HP, 84 Attack, 78 Defense, 109 Special Attack, 85 Special Defense, and 100 Speed. Its higher Special Attack supports a special-focused role, while Timid’s Speed increase can help it move before more opponents. Since a special attacker generally does not depend on its Attack stat, lowering Attack is usually the less costly trade.
When Jolly or Adamant makes more sense
Choose Jolly for a physical set that needs Speed
Jolly increases Speed at the cost of Special Attack. That trade fits a physical moveset when getting the first move is more important than boosting damage with Adamant. Whether the added Speed is enough depends on the format and the opponents you need to outspeed.

Consider Adamant when the set already boosts Speed
Adamant increases Attack instead of Speed, so it can suit a physical set that uses a move such as Dragon Dance to raise Speed during battle. The choice still depends on the speed benchmarks you need to reach; having a Speed boost does not automatically make Adamant the better option in every matchup.

How to decide for your Charizard
- Identify the role. If the build centers on special moves, start with Timid. If it is physical, compare Jolly and Adamant.
- For a physical build, check the Speed plan. Use Jolly if Charizard needs its nature to gain Speed; consider Adamant if the build already raises Speed and extra Attack is more useful.
- Account for the game and format. A nature that fits one generation’s sample set is not automatically optimal for a different game, moveset, or competitive format.
