There is no proven best oath for every Deepwoken character. Jetstriker is a reasonable broad starting point if its Agility requirement and race objective suit your build: a Deepwoken Builder community poll rates it highly, but that is player opinion—not evidence that it wins in every mode. For PvE, community suggestions include Dawnwalker generally and Bladeharper for speedrunning; those recommendations are anecdotal rather than a verified ranking.
How to choose an oath
Oaths are character commitments that grant abilities and rules. The Deepwoken community wiki says a character can hold only one oath at a time. Choose by matching the oath to the character you intend to play, rather than treating a tier label as a universal answer.
- Mode: Decide whether the character is for PvE, PvP, or speedrunning. Community advice may be specific to one of these contexts.
- Build compatibility: Check whether the oath’s stat requirements fit the attributes you plan to raise.
- Playstyle: Read the oath’s abilities and consider whether they support how you want to fight or progress.
- Unlock effort: Account for objectives and progression, not just the final abilities.
- Evidence quality: Treat community ratings and comments as impressions, not controlled comparisons.
What the available comparisons say
| Oath | Requirements or context | Community evidence | How to read it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jetstriker | 50 Agility and winning a race against Alirian, according to Deepwoken Builder. | 4.27/5 from 1,101 votes; labeled A tier on the page. | The clearest broad community favorite in this comparison, but the rating is not a win rate or controlled test. |
| Arcwarder | 20 Fortitude, 20 Flamecharm, and 20 Thundercall, according to Deepwoken Builder. | 2.61/5 from 32 votes; labeled B tier on the page. | The sample is far smaller than Jetstriker’s, so the scores should not be treated as a direct competitive comparison. |
| Dawnwalker | A cited community PvE discussion recommends it generally; the wiki lists level 15 among its requirements. | Anecdotal recommendation, not a poll or verified ranking. | Consider it as a PvE lead, then check its current unlock requirements and abilities. |
| Bladeharper | A cited community comment names it in a speedrunning context. | Anecdotal recommendation, not a general PvE ranking. | Its mention is specifically tied to speedrunning, so do not assume the advice applies to every PvE build. |
The poll pages do not state a year for these all-time ratings. Vote totals and tier labels can change, and the different sample sizes make the scores especially unsuitable as a head-to-head test.
Examples of stat and progression fit
Requirements can make an oath a poor fit even when its reputation sounds appealing. The Deepwoken wiki’s oath list gives examples including Blindseer at 40 Willpower, Dawnwalker at level 15, Jetstriker at 50 Agility, and Saltchemist at 75 Intelligence. These examples show why planning around an oath matters; verify exact current requirements in-game or against an updated reference before committing to a build.
#1 Best Overall
Before you commit
- Choose the character’s intended mode and playstyle.
- Compare candidate oath abilities with that plan and check the associated stat requirements and unlock objectives.
- Use ratings as a clue about community sentiment, not proof of strength. There is no controlled head-to-head test in the cited material establishing a current best oath across PvE and PvP.
- Check the current consequences and requirements for changing course. The wiki says an oath can be broken through Yun’Shul; consult its current information before acting.
Balance can change, and the sources cited here do not establish a current competitive ranking. No named official developer statement in the cited material declares a universal best oath.
