For late-game dungeon tanking in Hypixel SkyBlock, Goldor’s Armor paired with a Reaper Mask is the strongest general survivability recommendation supported by the available community guides. It is not a universal ranking: the right setup depends on your floor progression, party, and whether you need to survive the boss or clear rooms quickly.
Best tank armor by progression
Tank armor is best treated as a progression path, not a single set that suits every floor. The following recommendations come from community guides, not an official Hypixel ranking.

Early game: Old Dragon Armor
The community Tank Guide recommends Old Dragon Armor as an early tank option. It can serve as a starting point until you meet the requirements for later dungeon gear.
Mid game: Necromancer Lord Armor
After completing Floor VI, the same guide recommends Necromancer Lord Armor for its health and defense. The guide notes that it can be expensive; if its chestplate is out of reach, it suggests a Perfect Chestplate of Tier XI or higher as a defensive substitute.

Late game: Goldor’s Armor and Reaper Mask
After Floor VII, Goldor’s Armor is the clearest general choice for a tank focused on surviving dungeon encounters. The Tank Guide and a separate Armor Guide both identify Goldor’s as a tank-oriented set, with the latter recommending a Reaper Mask in place of the set helmet.
What Goldor’s Armor provides
The community-contributed Goldor’s Armor item page lists set totals of +970 health and +860 defense. It also describes a full-set effect that reduces damage taken from withers by 10% per piece. These are wiki reference values, not results from a controlled performance test; check current in-game data because item values can change.
Health and defense both contribute to survivability, while the wither reduction applies to a particular damage source. That makes Goldor’s especially relevant to tanking, but it does not establish that the set is best for every encounter or every player.
Choose gear for the job in the run
Boss survival
If your main job is to absorb damage and keep the party safe during the boss fight, prioritize tank gear. For late-game progression, Goldor’s with a Reaper Mask is the supported general recommendation; earlier in progression, use the best accessible tank option for your floor.

The Tank Guide notes that some players switch to a damage-oriented Berserk, Archer, or Mage set while clearing rooms, then change into tank gear for the boss. This is guide advice, not a requirement. Whether it makes sense depends on your party’s needs and your ability to contribute damage without compromising the run.

Community guides support a progression-aware recommendation, but they do not provide a controlled comparison of every armor set. A useful choice depends on the floor you are running, what gear you can access, the encounter’s damage profile, and whether you are building for boss survival or room clearing. A recent player discussion also frames the question as “what’s the best tank setup now?”, but that is anecdotal and does not establish a community-wide consensus.
The Hypixel forum guide offers additional player progression advice, but it is older and unofficial. Hypixel’s official wiki landing page establishes the wiki’s official, Hypixel-led status; it is not evidence of an official armor ranking. The Reddit discussion is useful only as an example of informal player phrasing, not as proof of a consensus.
