The blob thing in Pokémon is most likely Ditto—the small purple or pink Pokémon that can transform into copies of other Pokémon. Without an image or scene, though, “blob thing” is only a visual description, not a certain identification.

Why Ditto is the most likely answer

Ditto’s natural form is described as a light-purple or pink blob, and it is a Generation I Normal-type Pokémon. Its defining trait is transformation: Pokédex entries describe it copying another Pokémon by reorganizing its cells. The Pokémon Stadium entry, reproduced by Bulbapedia, calls it “usually a shapeless blob.” Bulbapedia’s Ditto reference provides the classification, appearance, and reproduced game text.

How to tell if the blob is Ditto

  • Look at its face: Ditto is commonly shown as a simple blob with small facial features.
  • Consider what it is doing: A Pokémon copying another Pokémon, or a reference to transformation, strongly points to Ditto.
  • Use the scene or game: A screenshot, location, or surrounding characters can help distinguish Ditto from other blob-like Pokémon.

Could it be another Pokémon?

Yes. Goomy, for example, is categorized as the Soft Tissue Pokémon, so the word “blob” alone cannot identify a character conclusively. Dittobase’s Goomy Pokédex page is one example of another Pokémon associated with a soft, blob-like description. If you have a particular image, game, or scene in mind, that context can narrow it down.

Is there a Ditto plush?

Yes. The Pokémon Company International described a Ditto As plush collection and other Ditto merchandise in a news post published March 5, 2026. That confirms official Ditto plush merchandise exists, but it does not establish current availability at any particular retailer. Read the official Pokémon merchandise announcement.
