The cheat is cas.fulleditmode. It opens fuller editing in Create-a-Sim (CAS), which goes beyond ordinary clothing changes. On PC and Mac you must first turn on cheats with testingcheats true. On PlayStation and Xbox, you open the cheat console with the controller and enter testingcheats on before the same cheat.
How to enter full edit mode on PC or Mac
- In a saved game, press Ctrl + Shift + C to open the cheat console.
- Type testingcheats true and press Enter.
- Type cas.fulleditmode and press Enter.
- Shift-click the Sim you want to change and select Edit in CAS. Some guides and interface versions label this option Modify in CAS; it is the same route into character creation.
How to enter full edit mode on console
PlayStation
- In play, press all four shoulder buttons (L1, R1, L2 and R2) together to open the console.
- Enter testingcheats on and confirm.
- Enter cas.fulleditmode and confirm.
- Shift-click the Sim and choose Edit in CAS (or Modify in CAS).
Xbox
- In play, press LB + LT + RB + RT together to open the console.
- Enter testingcheats on and confirm.
- Enter cas.fulleditmode and confirm.
- Shift-click the Sim and choose Edit in CAS (or Modify in CAS).
Before you use console cheats: the achievement trade-off
Electronic Arts warns that using testingcheats on console disables achievements for the current save game. The restriction applies to that save, so decide before you start whether you want to keep unlocking achievements in it. A separate save avoids the problem for your main progress.
What full edit mode does and does not cover
Create-a-Sim in the base game lets you change a Sim’s age, physical appearance, fashion, walk style and voice. The cheat is documented as opening the Sim character creation menu, so it gives you access to CAS editing for an existing Sim rather than a separate appearance tool.
The older EA player guide from 2014 says that testingcheats true followed by cas.fulleditmode allows all CAS abilities. The same guide also lists exceptions for some features, including name changes and inherited traits. Because that guide predates many game updates, it cannot confirm which fields are editable in the current version. For that reason, describe the cheat as enabling fuller CAS editing rather than promising that every attribute can be changed on every platform.

If the cheat does not seem to work
- Confirm the order: enable cheats first, then
cas.fulleditmode. Entering the second command alone does not establish the full setup described in the official sources. - Check that the console is open before typing. On PC and Mac the shortcut is Ctrl + Shift + C; on consoles it is the button combination listed above.
- Make sure you shift-click the Sim itself, then look for Edit in CAS or Modify in CAS in the menu that appears.
- If a field you expected to edit is locked, that limit may reflect your game version or platform. The sources available do not list every restricted field across current patches, so check the current Sims 4 cheats documentation on EA’s official site for your platform.
