“Forza” is a game franchise, not one game with one universal objective. In Forza Horizon 5, the campaign milestone is reaching the Hall of Fame; in Forza Motorsport, progression centers on developing as a circuit racer, building cars and competing in career and multiplayer events. Horizon 5 continues beyond its Hall of Fame milestone, with no definitive finish.
What does “Forza” mean?
Forza is the name of a franchise with two distinct branches. Forza Horizon is the open-world festival series, while Forza Motorsport focuses on racing on circuits. Their settings and progression differ, so the goal depends on which game you mean.
What is the goal of Forza Horizon 5?
Forza Horizon 5 places you in a rendition of Mexico, where you explore, take part in driving events and advance through the Horizon Festival. The campaign goal is reaching the Hall of Fame, according to an official Forza interview from the game’s 2021 launch period. The interview also makes clear that this milestone is not a definitive ending: there is no point where the game rolls credits and declares you finished. Forza’s interview about the road to Mexico describes the Hall of Fame as the campaign goal while noting that plenty remains to do afterward.
How Horizon 5 progression works
The game offers several ways to make progress rather than one mandatory sequence of races. Playground Games’ starting guide, published April 24, 2025, describes an opening Showcase and Horizon Story, followed by events and challenges. Completing events earns Accolades; earning enough unlocks an Outpost, after which the guide says the game’s features become available.

- Personal goal: Choose the activities you enjoy. The official interview notes that the game includes pursuits for players less interested in racing, too.
You do not need to complete every Accolade or activity to reach a satisfying stopping point. The Hall of Fame is a campaign target; what you pursue afterward is up to you.
What is the goal of Forza Motorsport?
Forza Motorsport is the circuit-racing branch. Its progression emphasizes improving your driving, learning tracks and cars, and developing vehicles through career events and upgrades. The official Forza Motorsport page describes the game, while Chris Esaki’s September 21, 2023 article on its evolving racing platform discusses career progression alongside competitive multiplayer and Rivals.

What progress looks like in Motorsport
- Practice and build familiarity with cars and circuits.
- Progress through Builders Cup career events, earning car XP and upgrades.
- Race in competitive multiplayer series or pursue Rivals challenges.
That makes Motorsport a better fit if your main aim is focused track racing and car development. It is not the same campaign structure as Horizon’s open-world festival.

This is a distinction in emphasis, not a rule that either game supports only one play style. Horizon offers structured racing as well as exploration and other activities; Motorsport combines career progression with competitive modes.
