The Obsidian Nightwing was also explicitly described by Blizzard as carrying a friend, though that announcement dates to 2012. For ground travel, the Traveler’s Tundra Mammoth and Grand Expedition Yak can carry a player after you remove one of their vendor companions to free a seat.
Flying mounts that carry another player
Sandstone Drake
The Sandstone Drake is the strongest documented answer if you want to fly with a friend. Learning the Vial of the Sands lets your character transform into the drake; its item description says an ally can ride on your back. Blizzard also identifies the Sandstone Drake among the mounts introduced with Cataclysm. The current availability and requirements for obtaining the Vial are not established here.
Obsidian Nightwing
Blizzard’s 2012 announcement of the Obsidian Nightwing said the owner becomes the mount, allowing a friend to ride on their back. The announcement presented it as a Recruit-a-Friend reward; it does not confirm whether or how the mount can be obtained now.
Ground mounts with seats occupied by vendors
Traveler’s Tundra Mammoth
The Traveler’s Tundra Mammoth is described as a three-person mount with two vendor companions. To carry another player, you need to remove a vendor first so that a seat is available.

Grand Expedition Yak
The Grand Expedition Yak also has three-person capacity and vendor companions. As with the Mammoth, one vendor seat must be freed before another player can ride. Current costs and availability for either mount are not established here.
What counts as a two-person mount?
A passenger mount has a seat another player can use. A mount that carries vendors is different: those occupants use seats, so the mount’s stated capacity does not automatically mean there is an open seat for your friend. Blizzard’s Azeroth travel guide notes that some mounts are designed to carry more than one person, but the examples above are not a complete, confirmed current roster.
