There is no single best Frost Vortex mod list for every Once Human setup: your weapon, combat goal, and need for control or damage all matter. Which Frost Vortex setup should you choose?
Pick the setup that matches how you want to fight. The Manibus PvE list is explicitly designed for freezing, slowing, and grouping enemies while improving survivability. The KAM Abyss Glance recommendations focus on elemental and status play. Neither source provides a controlled comparison proving one is better across all weapons or activities.
- Choose the Manibus control variant if crowd control and safer PvE encounters are your priority.
- Consider the KAM Abyss Glance recommendations if you are building around that assault rifle and Frost/status effects.
- Check Pathfinder in-game before investing if you are considering the newer SKS option; its potential depends on whether its announced behavior and numbers match the live version.

Once Human Academy’s guide, marked verified for the July 2026 Dreamy Maelstrom patch and updated July 23, 2026, recommends this loadout for crowd control and survivability:

KAM Abyss Glance: armor and mod recommendations
An unofficial Once Human build wiki updated September 6, 2026 names Heavy Duty armor for elemental/status play with KAM Abyss Glance. It recommends Elemental Overload and Status Amplification, with Thunderclap or Secluded Strike as alternatives depending on shop availability. The guide also advises favoring Frost, status, and cooldown calibration lines.
Use this as a starting point for a KAM-focused build rather than an official best-in-slot prescription. The unofficial Frost Vortex build guide does not establish that the same choices are optimal for other weapons or combat goals.

M416: treat damage claims cautiously
A Vortex Gaming M416 build summary recommends Frost Vortex Precursor, with Ice Energy Precursor as a substitute. It also presents armor and other mod options. Its very large one-shot damage and fast boss-kill claims come from a video summary, not independently verified measurements, so they should not be treated as reproducible expectations. Abyss Glance: prioritize Frost, status, and uptime
A separate Vortex Gaming Abyss Glance summary emphasizes Frost damage, Status Amplification, critical scaling, and maintaining the Vortex. Its stated shiny-mod priorities are Frost damage, status damage, critical damage, and Vortex duration. Should you switch to the SKS Pathfinder?
The September 2026 fan-wiki guide says a September 24 update introduced the SKS Pathfinder, whose announced effect guarantees Frost Vortex on hit and reduces cooldown through hits. That could help maintain uptime, but the guide itself advises checking the live tooltip after the patch. Its suggestion that Pathfinder might outperform KAM is conditional, not proof that it is currently superior.
Before spending upgrade resources, check the Pathfinder’s current in-game tooltip and the applicable patch notes. The available guide does not establish a controlled performance comparison with KAM Abyss Glance. Its Pathfinder discussion appears in the unofficial Frost Vortex build guide.

How to choose between Frost Vortex mods
- Weapon compatibility and trigger uptime: Check how your weapon activates Frost Vortex and whether it can keep the effect active reliably.
- Frost and status scaling: Favor choices that support the damage route you are building, rather than mixing recommendations without a clear purpose.
- Cooldown and duration: These matter when sustained control or a persistent Vortex field is central to your plan.
- Combat goal: Crowd control and safety, boss damage, and PvP can call for different trade-offs.
- Investment risk: For a newly released weapon or a changed mechanic, confirm the live tooltip before committing upgrade materials.
Why older Frost Vortex advice may differ
In an official development update dated August 25, 2025, Once Human said Frost Vortex was appearing in suboptimal locations and had delayed damage with slow damage build-up. The planned August 28 changes aimed to improve placement, shorten the delay, and increase damage per Vortex while slightly reducing trigger chance. Older build advice may therefore reflect different behavior. The announcement describes mechanic adjustments, not a best-in-slot mod list: official Once Human development update.
What the available build guides do—and do not—establish
The named builds offer practical starting points, but they do not provide an apples-to-apples test across weapons, mods, and activities. No reliable general statistic establishes which Frost Vortex setup deals the most damage. Community questions about a good Frost build can help show what players are asking, but they are anecdotal rather than authoritative recommendations; one example is this Once Human Official subreddit discussion.
