Some Grounded resources do not respawn, but there is no blanket rule for every item called quartzite, marble, or mint. Obsidian describes upgrade materials as unique, non-respawning world finds, with crafting alternatives unlocking later. Specific sources can behave differently: reported Brittle Quartzite nodes respawn, while Brittle Marble sources are described as finite. Mint respawn also depends on where the mint is found.
Which Grounded items are known not to respawn?
The clearest confirmed category is the unique upgrade resources Obsidian placed across the yard. In its development notes, the Grounded team described Style and Tough Nuggets as “unique, non-respawning” finds. The game’s official 1.0 notes later describe renaming the upgrade resources to Quartzite and Marble and adding alternate crafting methods as progression advances.
That history supports a practical answer: some natural upgrade-material pickups are finite, but the name of a material alone does not tell you whether a particular source returns. The available item-specific reports distinguish Brittle Marble sources, described as finite, from Brittle Quartzite nodes, reported to respawn after seven in-game days.
Respawn behavior depends on the source
Check the resource tier, whether you harvested a node or picked up a loose item, and the exact location. A harvestable node and a loose shard found in a container or landmark should not be assumed to share the same timer.

| Resource or source | Reported behavior | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Brittle Quartzite node | Respawns after seven in-game days | This applies to the specific node report; it does not establish behavior for every quartzite tier or loose pickup. Grounded Wiki |
| Brittle Marble sources | Described as finite and non-respawning | The report does not establish behavior for every marble tier, loose pickup, or location. Grounded Wiki |
| Mined Fresh Mints | Reported to respawn after one in-game day | Location-specific exceptions are reported; this is lower-confidence, Fandom-based information. Grounded Wiki |
Mint locations that may not respawn
The Mint Shard information distinguishes mined Fresh Mints from several named sources that reportedly do not return: the Ice Cap Mint Container, the cup on the shed deck, and specified lab areas. Because this is location-specific secondary-source information, treat it as a useful lead rather than a universal rule for every mint in every version.
What finite pickups mean for upgrades
Finite world finds do not necessarily create a permanent shortage. Obsidian’s official notes explain that alternate crafting methods unlock through progression, moving some upgrade resources from finite world placement to craftable supply. The exact recipe and unlock point depend on the game’s progression; the official 1.0 notes discuss those alternate methods alongside the Quartzite and Marble naming.

How to avoid wasting a scarce resource
- Identify the exact source. Record the resource tier and location, and note whether it was a harvestable node or a loose pickup.
- Do not infer a rule from the material name. The reported Brittle Quartzite node and Brittle Marble sources have different respawn behavior.
- Check your progression for crafting alternatives. Official notes state that alternate upgrade-material crafting becomes available later, so a finite pickup is not automatically your only source for the whole game.
- For a location-specific exception, verify the current build. Available reports do not establish a complete, versioned list for every tier and location.
Official notes on the resource system
Obsidian’s Grounded Heads into the Home Stretch describes unique, non-respawning upgrade resources and the later move toward craftable supply. The Grounded 1.0 release notes document the Quartzite and Marble names and alternate upgrade-material crafting methods.
