But there is no single KOTOR combat subtype that applies to every player’s Revan: the game lets players define many aspects of the character, including how they play.
What is Revan’s Jedi class in the story?
The clearest story-level answer is Jedi Knight. The official Star Wars: The Old Republic timeline recounts that, after Revan’s fall and capture, the Jedi Council erased his memory and retrained him as a Jedi. Following his redemption, it describes him as a great hero of the Jedi Order. The timeline does not assign him a specific KOTOR gameplay subtype. Read the official SWTOR timeline.
EA’s article about the Galaxy of Heroes character also uses the name “Jedi Knight Revan” and notes that player choices in classic Knights of the Old Republic could lead to Revan becoming a Jedi Knight. The article is in Spanish. Read EA’s article.
Does Revan have one fixed class in KOTOR?
Not one universal combat build. Drew Karpyshyn, a lead writer on KOTOR and author of the Revan novel, explained that the games established Revan’s legend while letting players define many aspects of the character. He described Revan in the games as a “blank slate.” That is why a player’s chosen build should not be mistaken for a single fixed version of Revan. Read Karpyshyn’s official SWTOR Q&A.

Why do Jedi Knight, Guardian, and Sentinel get mixed up?
The labels belong to different levels of description, and game systems should not be treated as interchangeable. In SWTOR, Jedi Knight is a class with Guardian and Sentinel as advanced classes, as listed in the official PC manual. That SWTOR classification does not establish that every KOTOR player’s Revan had one of those subclasses. See the SWTOR PC manual.
