“Minty Axe” is the common nickname for the Merry Mint Axe, a Fortnite cosmetic harvesting tool. It is an in-game item, not a physical axe. According to a CyberPost report, its code was handed out during a 2019 holiday promotion tied to licensed Fortnite merchandise at participating retailers. Nothing published by Epic Games that we could locate confirms that a Minty Axe code still works today, so any code you find should be treated as unverified.
What the Minty Axe is
The Merry Mint Axe is a harvesting pickaxe-style tool in Fortnite that exists only inside the game. It changes how your character looks and is purely cosmetic. Players who search for “Minty Axe” are almost always looking for this one item and the code that unlocked it.

How the code was originally distributed
A CyberPost article published April 12, 2025 reports that the Minty Axe was distributed through a GameStop and participating-retailer promotion during the 2019 holiday season. Customers who bought licensed Fortnite merchandise received a scratch-off code, and the article says the promotional period has ended. CyberPost’s Minty Axe explainer is the source for these details.
That is a secondary report. We did not find an official Epic Games announcement that confirms the exact promotion end date, or that every unredeemed code from the promotion is invalid. The most that can be said with confidence is that the promotion was tied to a specific holiday period and retail channel.

Can you still redeem a Minty Axe code?
Readers who ask whether Minty Axe codes are still available are asking a question no official source answers. Epic’s help pages explain how product codes are redeemed in general, but they do not name the Minty Axe or state whether a particular code is valid. Epic’s guidance on some retail bundles, such as Deep Freeze or Rogue Spider, says those codes do not expire while they are valid and unredeemed. That rule covers those bundles only and should not be applied to the Minty Axe promotion, whose terms are not published in the sources we reviewed.

How to redeem a product code if you have one
If you hold a code from a legitimate source, Epic’s product-code help article describes the general process. Exact on-screen labels can change, so follow the article’s current wording:

- Sign in to the Epic account that should receive the item. Use your own account, not one you bought or borrowed.
- Open the Epic Games Launcher, or go to the Epic Games Store website while signed in to that account.
- Enter the code in the product-code redemption area described in Epic’s product-code redemption guide.
Fortnite gift-card redemption uses a different help path from product codes, so do not follow gift-card instructions for a promotional code.

- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code

Warning signs to avoid
- Account sales. Epic Games Account Support states: “Account buying, selling, or sharing is not allowed and is against our Terms of Service.” See Epic’s account buying, selling, and sharing policy. Any listing advertising an account that includes the Minty Axe carries this risk.
- Requests for login details. Epic’s Fortnite Code of Conduct tells players not to share accounts or login information. A seller or site that asks for your password or an account transfer is asking you to break that rule.
- Code generators and giveaways. None of the sources we reviewed show that these produce a working Minty Axe code.
- Posted code strings. Codes reproduced on low-quality pages have no verified status. Do not treat them as redeemable.
- Merchandise and gift cards. The merchandise link belongs to the 2019 promotion. No current product has been verified to include the Minty Axe, and V-Bucks or gift cards have not been shown to unlock it.
If a code you have does not work
- Confirm that you are signed in to the account you intended to use before entering the code.
- Check where the code came from. A code from an unofficial seller or a generator has no verified connection to Epic.
- For official redemption problems, use Epic’s help center rather than a third-party redemption service.
