There isn’t one current download size for Forza Horizon 5 across every platform. The clearest recent transfer figure is SteamDB’s dated Windows/Steam snapshot: 138.11 GiB to download for the base game, or 162.70 GiB with the Hot Wheels and Rally Adventure depots included. Installed storage requirements are larger, and Xbox figures are reported separately.

SteamDB’s figures are in GiB, a binary unit; the third-party tracker lists GB. They also differ in selection and measurement, so don’t compare the numbers as though they describe identical downloads.
Why older size figures are smaller
Forza’s official preload guidance, published October 21, 2021, listed storage capacity requirements of 103 GB for Xbox Series X|S, 116 GB for Xbox One, and 103 GB each for Windows and Steam. Those are launch-era requirements, not current totals. Forza’s preload announcement

Later patches can change the amount of data a platform needs. Forza’s January 29, 2026 release notes identify a platform-specific build and fixes, which is one reason a dated size snapshot should not be treated as permanent. Forza Horizon 5 release notes
Why sizes differ between Xbox and PC
Platform packaging can affect both download and installed size. Forza said its Xbox Series X|S install footprint was reduced by optimizing assets for the consoles’ high-bandwidth internal SSD, resulting in a shorter download. Forza’s preload announcement

Xbox has also explained that Series S games may not need the highest-resolution 4K textures, which can make games smaller. That is a general platform-design explanation, not a measured Forza Horizon 5 size comparison. Xbox Wire’s storage primer
How much free space should you leave?
Use the number shown by your own platform’s store or install screen as the best available estimate for your specific version. The figures above show why it is wise not to plan around Forza’s 2021 launch requirements: current updates, platform, and included content can change the space needed. A download transfer figure also does not tell you exactly how much free storage the finished installation will occupy.

Expanding Xbox Series X|S storage
If your console lacks room, Microsoft lists Seagate Storage Expansion Cards in 1 TB, 2 TB, and 4 TB capacities for both Xbox Series X and Series S. Microsoft says the card maintains internal SSD performance. Microsoft’s Seagate expansion card page
USB 3.1 storage can store Series X|S-optimized games, but those games cannot be played directly from it; the expansion card can run them. This is an optional storage solution, not a requirement for downloading Forza Horizon 5 or a way to reduce its download size. Xbox Wire’s storage primer
