The phrase is used in different fictional contexts: it can refer to a setting-specific Chalice, a generic quest objective, or be confused with Bahamut-related crafting and raid content in other games. The game, book, or campaign determines what it means.
What the phrase can mean
| Setting or source | What “relic” refers to | What is established |
|---|---|---|
| RPGnet wiki, “Relics of the Gods” | The Chalice of Bahamut | The entry describes a relic associated with Bahamut’s blood and gives it a fictional history within that setting. Read the RPGnet wiki entry. |
| Minsc and Boo’s Journal of Villainy quest listing | A quest objective called “Relic of Bahamut” | The listing describes a Knights of Bahamut quest to track down an ancient relic blessed by Bahamut, but does not name a specific artifact. The result is hosted on Scribd and does not establish publication or purchase details. View the Scribd listing. |
| Granblue Fantasy | Rusted Sword and Bahamut Weapon crafting | The Rusted Sword page discusses Rusted Weapons as crafting components for Bahamut Weapons and other series, including by forging them into a relic. It does not identify a unique item called “the relic of Bahamut.” See the Rusted Sword page. |
| Final Fantasy XIV | The Binding Coil of Bahamut raid | The raid’s story concerns Bahamut’s remains and Allagan technology; the available reference does not identify an object titled “the relic of Bahamut.” See the Binding Coil of Bahamut page. |
The Chalice of Bahamut
One specific interpretation appears in an RPGnet wiki entry under “Relics of the Gods.” It describes the Chalice of Bahamut as a relic that caught Bahamut’s blood while he was wounded during a confrontation with Tiamat, and says the object later became associated with human religious traditions in that fictional history. This is the account of that wiki entry, not evidence that the Chalice is a universal or official artifact across Bahamut stories.
When “Relic of Bahamut” is a quest objective
A quest listing for Minsc and Boo’s Journal of Villainy uses “Relic of Bahamut” as the objective of a Knights of Bahamut quest: find an ancient relic blessed by Bahamut. The wording does not specify the artifact’s name or establish that it is the Chalice. Treat it as a quest hook, not as proof of a single shared relic.
Why other Bahamut references are not the same relic
Granblue Fantasy crafting
The Rusted Sword reference concerns a crafting system: Rusted Weapons can be used in crafting Bahamut Weapons and other series, including by forging into a relic. That crafting context does not make one item the universal “relic of Bahamut.”
#1 Best Overall
Final Fantasy XIV raid story
The Binding Coil of Bahamut is raid content involving Bahamut’s remains and Allagan technology. A Bahamut-related raid is not, by itself, evidence of a named artifact called “the relic of Bahamut.”

Check the exact game, book, or campaign where you encountered the phrase. If it came from a quest, its description may be using “relic” generically; if it came from a wiki entry, the Chalice may be a setting-specific answer. For a precise identification, the title alone is not enough—share the game or the quest text.
