It measures how many people were on Roblox at the same moment, across all experiences, and it is not the record for any single game.
What Roblox actually reported
The company’s wording in the filing is the best place to start, because the precision matters:

Two points follow from that sentence. First, Roblox gave a threshold, not an exact count. Writing “45.0 million” or “45.4 million” would claim a precision the company did not publish. Second, the figure is a platform total. The same letter describes several “records for concurrency” in the plural, which signals that Roblox tracks more than one concurrency milestone.
A third-party estimate of about 47.4 million also circulates. It is not a Roblox figure, and it should not be presented as the company’s official number.

What “concurrent users” means
Concurrent users is a peak-at-one-moment measure. It counts the largest number of accounts active in the platform at the same time. It is not:
- Daily active users, the number of distinct people who log in on a given day.
- Total accounts, the number of people who have ever created an account.
- Total hours, the cumulative time spent playing, which Roblox reported separately as nearly 40 billion hours for Q3 2025.
A platform can have a high concurrency peak on a single evening without that many distinct people logging in across the day, so the two numbers answer different questions.

How the 2025 peaks built up
The August 2025 figure was the top of a sharp rise over the spring and summer. Roblox’s June 2025 infrastructure article gives the earlier milestones. The table below lists the platform-wide points that are established in the sources, with the scope and source for each.

Each step is a platform total, so the three figures can be compared directly. The April and June numbers are exact figures as Roblox stated them, while the August number is a floor.

Single-game peaks are a different statistic
Many readers ask about a game’s record, and Roblox publishes those separately. An individual experience’s peak counts only the people in that experience at once. It is always smaller than the platform total, and it should never be placed in the same ranking. The two experiences below are the most-cited examples from 2025.

The Grow a Garden and Steal a Brainrot numbers are both real milestones for their games, but neither is a platform record.
What these sources do not settle
- Whether a later figure has surpassed 45 million. The sources above establish the August 23, 2025 threshold as the highest platform-wide figure Roblox published in those documents. They do not cover later reporting periods, so for a current answer, check Roblox’s newsroom and its later shareholder letters.
- An exact count. No official exact figure beyond “over 45 million” is established.
- The date of Grow a Garden’s peak. The 21.6 million figure is attributed to 2025 reporting, but the source does not date the peak.
When you repeat the figure, keep three elements together: the word “over,” the date of August 23, 2025, and the phrase “concurrent users” on the whole platform.
