There isn’t one Pokémon that is strongest in every Pixelmon battle. The answer depends on the server’s rules, the available forms, the opponent and how your Pokémon is trained. If Mega Evolution is allowed, Mega Rayquaza is a powerful candidate—but the official Pixelmon references do not rank it as the uncontested strongest.
Why there is no single strongest Pokémon
“Strongest” can mean highest base-stat total, easiest to win with, or best against a particular opponent. Those are different questions. Pokémon Support puts it plainly: “The biggest thing to think about, in regards to what is the strongest, is looking at what kind of challenge you’re facing.” Type matchups, training and the battle format all affect the answer. Pixelmon’s official references do not provide an overall ranking that names one species as best. Its wiki describes Legendary Pokémon as rare and having high base-stat totals, but that does not make every Legendary the right pick for every battle. Pixelmon’s Legendary Pokémon guide
Is Rayquaza the strongest in Pixelmon?
Rayquaza is a credible candidate, especially if your server permits Mega Evolution. The Pixelmon wiki lists ordinary Rayquaza’s base stats as 105 HP, 150 Attack, 90 Defense, 150 Special Attack, 90 Special Defense and 95 Speed, for a total of 680. That is a strong stat spread, but the figure describes ordinary Rayquaza; it does not establish a ranking across all Pokémon or forms. Pixelmon’s Rayquaza entry

Rayquaza needs the move Dragon Ascent to Mega Evolve, according to the same entry. Whether that option is usable depends on the installed Pixelmon release and server rules. Do not treat Mega Rayquaza as an available answer unless those rules allow the form.
What to compare when choosing a Pokémon
- Format and permitted forms: Check which battle features, forms and mechanics the server allows. Pixelmon releases add or change options; its update information, for example, documents Terastallization and Tera Raids. Pixelmon version history
- Stats and training: Legendary Pokémon are guaranteed at least three stats with 31 IVs when captured or spawned, according to Pixelmon’s IV guide. IVs affect six stats, and the mod supports breeding and Hyper Training to improve a Pokémon’s stat profile. Pixelmon’s Individual values guide
- Typing and matchup: A strong general-purpose Pokémon can still be vulnerable to an opponent’s type or strategy. Choose for the challenge you expect, rather than relying on a species’ reputation alone.
- Moves and abilities: Check what is available in your installed release and whether a move or ability fits the role you need. The Rayquaza example shows why this matters: its Mega Evolution requires Dragon Ascent.
- Access and server settings: Availability can be a practical constraint. Pixelmon’s documented default Legendary spawn attempts occur every 12.5 to 29.16 minutes, but spawn conditions and configuration affect the mechanic; this is not a promise that a particular player will encounter one on that schedule. How to make a practical choice
- Check your Pixelmon version and server rules. Confirm which forms and battle mechanics are permitted before building around them.
- Define the challenge. Identify the opponent, format and role you need the Pokémon to fill. A choice for one matchup may not be best for another.
- Compare the relevant stats, typing, moves and abilities. Base-stat total is only one part of the decision; the stats that support your plan and the matchup matter too.
- Train the Pokémon for its role. Pixelmon supports breeding and Hyper Training, while IVs influence its stats. A species’ reputation cannot compensate for a build that does not fit the battle.
The short answer
Mega Rayquaza is a strong conditional recommendation if Mega Evolution is allowed, but there is no verified universal strongest Pokémon in Pixelmon. For a useful pick, start with your version, server rules and intended matchup, then compare the Pokémon’s form, stats, typing and training.
