Rick Grimes and Michonne were released in Dead by Daylight on July 29, 2025, as part of the The Walking Dead chapter. The chapter is still listed by Behaviour Interactive as playable, so the question today is less about when it arrives and more about when it became fully available and which date a source is referring to.
The release date and the Player Test Build
Behaviour Interactive announced the chapter on July 8, 2025. The announcement stated: “Dead by Daylight: The Walking Dead is now available in the Player Test Build, with the full Chapter releasing on July 29th.” (Behaviour Interactive announcement, July 8, 2025)
That sentence explains most of the date confusion. The Player Test Build (PTB) was open from the announcement, while the full chapter for all players went live on July 29, 2025. Articles written in early July may therefore give a date that is earlier than the official full release. If you are checking a specific date, use July 29, 2025 for the general release. The official chapter listing also records the chapter as a July 29, 2025 release. (official chapter listing)
What the chapter adds
The official The Walking Dead chapter page lists Rick Grimes and Michonne as the chapter’s new Survivors. It also lists two exclusive cosmetic items: the Sheriff’s Hat (Badge) and the Tank In Ruins (Banner). (official chapter page)

Is the chapter still available?
The official chapter page and listing both present The Walking Dead as available to play, so the answer to the present-tense version of the question is yes, as of the official pages reviewed for this article. Because chapter availability can change with storefront or platform decisions, check the official chapter page before relying on it for a purchase or a stream plan.
Searches for the release may also use the phrasing “When did Rick and Michonne come to Dead by Daylight?” The answer is the same: July 29, 2025, for the full chapter, with the PTB open earlier from July 8, 2025.
