The reported global review embargo for Ghost of Yōtei lifted on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 9:00 AM Eastern Time (6:00 AM Pacific Time). That date has already passed: the game launched on PS5 on October 2, 2025.

Reviews of Ghost of Yōtei were cleared for publication at 9:00 AM ET / 6:00 AM PT on Thursday, September 25, 2025, according to a contemporaneous Insider Gaming report. That report attributes the timing to a post by Geoff Keighley, who wrote: “Just received a copy of GHOST OF YOTEI for review.” The quote is reproduced as Insider Gaming reported it, so it should be credited to Keighley through that report rather than read as a direct post from him.

Sony’s official PlayStation pages confirm the game, its PS5 platform and its launch date, but they do not state the embargo time themselves. The embargo figure therefore rests on the Insider Gaming report. Review coverage that went live on September 25, 2025, is consistent with that timing.

The two dates are exactly one week apart. The review embargo lifted before players could buy or download the game, which is the usual sequence for a major release.

Why the question is easy to misread
Searches for an embargo date often use the present tense, but the answer for this title is historical. If you are looking for when reviews of Ghost of Yōtei were published, the answer is September 25, 2025. If you are looking for when the game became playable, the answer is October 2, 2025, on PlayStation 5.
The title is also sometimes written without the macron as “Yotei.” Both spellings refer to the same game.
