It is over. Nintendo now lists the software as Drag x Drive Demo, formerly titled Drag x Drive: Global Jam, so if you are looking for it in the eShop or in support material, use that name.
The session times
Nintendo of America announced the demo on July 30, 2025, through a “Catch the latest on Drag x Drive before tip-off time!” post on its What’s New page. The announcement listed three sessions, all in Pacific Time (PT):
| # | Preview | Product | Price | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 |
|
Mario Kart™ World (Nintendo Switch 2) | $79.00 | Buy on Amazon |
| 2 |
|
Star Fox™ - Nintendo Switch 2 | $59.00 | Buy on Amazon |
| 3 |
|
Donkey Kong Bananza (Nintendo Switch 2) | $69.00 | Buy on Amazon |
| 4 |
|
Pokémon Pokopia - Nintendo Switch 2 | $69.00 | Buy on Amazon |
| Session | Date | Pacific Time window |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | August 9, 2025 | 3:00 a.m. to 6:59 a.m. PT |
| 2 | August 9, 2025 | 5:00 p.m. to 8:59 p.m. PT |
| 3 | August 10, 2025 | 9:00 a.m. to 12:59 p.m. PT |
Because the first two sessions fall on the same calendar day but are separated by a long overnight gap, keep the date attached to each window when you share the schedule. Readers outside the Pacific zone will need to convert the times themselves; the announcement does not provide conversions for other regions.
What the demo included and who could join
According to the same announcement, the demo let players try the full tutorial, online matchmaking, and Friend Parks. Participation required a Nintendo Switch 2 and a Nintendo Switch Online membership. Both requirements were stated by Nintendo for the event itself. Owning a Switch 2 today does not give you access to these sessions, because the windows have closed.

Current status and naming
The demo is no longer running. Nintendo Support’s update guide, “How to Update Drag x Drive,” says the software title changed from “Drag x Drive: Global Jam” to “Drag x Drive Demo,” and that version 1.1.1 of “Drag x Drive Demo” was released. If you search for the older name, you may find announcements and discussion from 2025 rather than a working download link. Use the newer name when searching the eShop or Nintendo’s help pages.

The same July 30, 2025 announcement listed Drag x Drive for Nintendo Switch 2 at $19.99 and gave an August 14, 2025 release date. Those figures come from Nintendo’s 2025 announcement and reflect the listing at that time; check the current eShop price before relying on them. The source does not establish a physical retail edition, so the available evidence does not support describing the game as a cartridge.
