Mission 3, Sonderzüge Sabotage, has three weapon workbenches—not just one. The likely bench meant by “the workbench” is the SMG bench in the Old Town area near the starting side, but use the weapon-specific routes below to find the SMG, Rifle, or Pistol bench.
All Sonderzüge Sabotage workbench locations
Choose the route by weapon type: the SMG bench is near Old Town, the Rifle bench is at the dockyard across the river, and the Pistol bench is in an eastern trainyard office. These are the three workbench locations listed for the mission by GameSpot.

SMG workbench: Old Town, near the starting area
Head into the Old Town group of buildings on the starting side and look for a courtyard or warehouse with a locked entrance. One route is to pass the first building and reach the central warehouse, which has a light above its locked door, as described by Prima Games. Push Square places the same bench in a courtyard with a fountain and a lockable gate, south of the first optional objective on the river’s southern side.
For a route from the start, descend the stairs and follow the path left toward the nearest workbench map marker. The bench is behind a locked ground-floor door; bolt cutters near the entrance can provide a quicker way in, according to Insider Gaming. The landmarks differ among guides, so use the map marker and the locked Old Town entrance to orient yourself.

Rifle workbench: dockyard across the river
Cross the river toward the dockyard near the Kill List objective. From the left bridge, descend to the pier and enter the long building beside it. The Rifle bench is inside, and this route does not require lockpicking. Prima Games and GameSpot list its reward as the Rifle Assault Kit.

Go to the trainyard on the eastern side of the map and enter its office building. The Pistol bench is upstairs, behind a gate or door that can be opened with bolt cutters or lockpicking. Push Square and GameSpot list the reward as the Pistol Capacity Crate.
