Fish at its end for the Really Special Herring, cook it with cheese, and take the finished dish back to Rumpolt.
How to unlock Rumpolt’s herring quest
Advance the main quest The Silk Road until you can reach Rumpolt Finnini in Broch Prison, referred to as the Ruined Broch in some guides. Speak with him to start 120 Days on Herring and Cheese. The community wiki lists The Silk Road as a prerequisite; see its quest entry.
Where to find the Really Special Herring
After accepting the quest, use its marker to locate the fishing spot east of the island, near the Ruined Broch. The point is at the end of a sandbar, reached by following a shallow path through the water. Neoseeker describes it as a beach east of the Ruined Broch fast-travel gate; its walkthrough gives the same practical landmarks.
How to catch the fish
- Follow the quest marker to the sandbar and look for the fishing spot. A walkthrough reports a fishing rod beside a ruined boat nearby.
- Equip the rod and fish at the marked point. The Really Special Herring is a quest-specific catch; ordinary fish usually become fillets instead.
- Try again if you do not catch it immediately. The walkthrough notes that it may take multiple attempts.
If you cannot see the fishing interface, check that the HUD is enabled; the fishing guide says the interface appears on the HUD.
