Get your first Luminous Oil from Pilgrimage of Light
The quest is available to a level 91 Disciple of War or Magic after completing Endwalker. The official Eorzea Database lists the quest giver and coordinates, along with the Endwalker prerequisite.
To start it, speak with the Bright-Eyed Child in The Crystarium (X:10.3, Y:10.7). The community quest listing says you must also have cleared Palace of the Dead floor 50, and that completing the quest awards one Luminous Oil. That floor requirement and reward quantity are reported by XIV Codex, rather than the official quest listing.
Earn additional oil through Pilgrim’s Traverse
After unlocking Pilgrim’s Traverse, complete its Challenge Log objectives for a chance to receive additional phials of Luminous Oil. Square Enix’s Patch 7.35 notes confirm that completed objectives can add phials of Luminous Oil or pieces of the Blessed Hoard to your inventory. The notes do not specify a particular objective tier or reward rate.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can you buy Luminous Oil from the Market Board?
A community item database lists Luminous Oil as untradeable and market-prohibited, so the Market Board is not a route to obtaining it. The practical sources are the quest reward and Pilgrim’s Traverse Challenge Log objectives.
