Where to Find Shad and Albacore in Stardew Valley

Catch Shad in a river during rainy Spring, Summer, or Fall, from 9am to 2am. Catch Albacore in the ocean during Fall or Winter, from 6am to 11am or 6pm to 2am; the weather does not matter.

How to catch each fish

Shad

1. Choose a rainy day in Spring, Summer, or Fall.
2. Fish in a river in Pelican Town or Cindersap Forest between 9am and 2am. Riverlands, Forest, and Hill-top Farm maps are also listed as locations.

Albacore

1. Go to The Beach or fish at Beach Farm in Fall or Winter.
2. Cast during either window: 6am–11am or 6pm–2am. Any weather is suitable.

Can Magic Bait help?

The fish entries say Magic Bait removes the relevant normal time, season, and/or weather restrictions. They do not say it changes the habitat: use a river for Shad and the ocean for Albacore.

• A pet cat with maximum friendship may give you a Shad.
• Shad and Albacore may appear in Krobus’s shop on Wednesdays or at the Traveling Cart. Both are chance-based, so they are not dependable options for a planned catch.
