Names follow the commonly used spellings “Betta,” “Arowana,” and “Dunkleosteus”; one guide spells these as “Beta,” “Arawana,” and “Dunkleastus.” The location disagreement is most notable for Gigantic fish: Epic lists all three at Eidos 9 Atelier, while PowerPyx also lists Arowana and Great White Shark at the Oasis. Treat the additional Oasis locations as alternatives rather than exclusivity claims.
Where to find the six fishing areas
- Great Desert Oasis: The pool beside Clyde’s Fishing Hut, where the fishing tutorial takes place. It is also the documented spot for both Jumbo species.
- Pond on the Xion-to-Wasteland route: A small pond along the route connecting Xion and the Wasteland.
- Wasteland Northern Cave: The cave lake north of the Solar Tower.
- Wasteland Southeastern Lake: The flooded area in the southeastern Wasteland, also described as the Plant area.
- Eidos 7 Clocktower pond: A fishing pond near the Clocktower area.
- Eidos 9 Atelier: A late-story fishing pool at the Atelier.
Some guides count a fishable flooded sewer in Eidos 7 as an additional spot, while Epic and Push Square share the six-area list above. If a species is proving difficult to locate, it may be worth checking that sewer as an alternate fishing area.

How to unlock fishing and improve your chances
Fishing unlocks after reaching the Great Desert and speaking with Clyde at the Oasis. The introductory quest is “Looking Glass.” Clyde teaches the fishing mechanics and sells bait and Fishing Data. Guides say Fishing Data improves the odds or ability to land larger fish, but do not give a precise catch-rate figure.
Preferred bait makes fish of the matching size more likely; it does not necessarily rule out other sizes. Jumbo fish are the exception called out by the guides: use Fantastic Bait for them.

Unlock Fantastic Bait
Fantastic Bait is gated behind the fishing request chain. The named requests include “Wife’s Water Tank,” “Unforgettable Fish Dish,” “Fish Research,” “A Gift for a Fishing Maniac,” and “Where Is the Fantastic Bait?” The later steps described by Push Square involve gathering 20 fish entries, speaking with Clyde, buying information from Roxanne, and retrieving the bait from a crate in the Wasteland Plant. The exact sequence can depend on current request-board progression, so follow the active requests shown in your game.

There are two different completion goals. PowerPyx reports that 20 fish entries are enough for the Lonely Fisherman achievement. Catching all 25 base-game fish earns the Ocean Maid outfit from Clyde, according to Epic and PowerPyx. You do not need the full index for the achievement, but you do for the outfit.

Does the NIKKE expansion add more fish?
Yes, the Stellar Blade x GODDESS OF VICTORY: NIKKE add-on is separate from the base-game fish index. The official PlayStation Store listing says players can fish for six collectible NIKKE items. It does not name the items or specify their bait and catching conditions. A June 2025 Steam community guide suggests the Great Desert Oasis or Wasteland Inundated Cave and Strange or Special Baits, but those specifics are community-reported rather than confirmed by the official listing.
