Pull both free from stone, then take them to your base and combine them at the crafting table. The Mausoleum’s position and layout can vary, and it may not appear in every match.
Where to look for Excalibur
Excalibur is not found as a completed sword. Its Hilt and Shattered Blade are separate items hidden inside the Mausoleum, an area in the Cemetery. Guides report that the Mausoleum’s exact map position changes between matches and that it can be absent altogether, so there are no reliable fixed coordinates to follow. Game8’s Excalibur guide and its Mausoleum and Cemetery location guide both describe that variability.
How to get Excalibur
- Check the map for the Cemetery and Mausoleum. If the Mausoleum is not present in your match, this route is unavailable for that run.
- Search the Mausoleum’s rooms and halls. Find the Hilt of Excalibur and the Shattered Blade (also called the broken Excalibur Blade). They are in separate places and embedded in stone, so search throughout the dungeon rather than relying on a remembered room or route. The Mage Arena Wiki’s Magic Items page and the Game8 guide describe the two components.
- Hold the interaction control to pull out each piece. The Mage Arena Wiki and Pro Game Guides report that extracting a component takes about 10 seconds. You are exposed while the interaction is in progress.
- Bring both parts back to your base. Use the crafting table to assemble them into Excalibur.
What to watch for inside
The Mausoleum is dangerous while you search or extract the pieces. Guides identify the Lich as a major threat, and Game8 also reports skeletons in some rooms. Because pulling a component occupies you for several seconds, check the area before starting and be ready for nearby enemies. The sources do not establish a single safest or guaranteed way to defeat the Lich. The Mage Arena Wiki’s NPC page also describes the Lich.
Pro Game Guides recommends carrying a torch for the dark area; treat that as a guide suggestion, not a proven requirement or a recommendation to bring a real-world torch.

What is known about Excalibur’s combat behavior?
The acquisition route is consistent across the guides, but descriptions of the finished sword’s combat behavior conflict. The Mage Arena Wiki lists 105 damage, while Game8’s August 4, 2025 guide describes holding left click and aiming to summon a thunderbolt. Those accounts do not establish the current damage value or controls. Avoid relying on either as definitive until you check the item in your current game build.
Steam lists Mage Arena as an Early Access PC game, and its announcement feed shows updates continuing into 2026. The available update information does not confirm a change to Excalibur specifically, so combat details may differ by build. A community guide titled “How To Excalibur” also uses the same item name, but does not resolve that conflict.
